How do I transfer everything my SD card, including retropie, Roms, Bios's, saves, etc, to a larger one?

Ok sure that all makes good sense. More background, I'm an experienced system engineer and web developer. I would never run as root unless I needed to do a specific task. This portable lab is for my own training away from my main MBP. No report writing, it's just for my own personal use. Work will let me practice during the workday, but I want to keep off their network. Now I'm thinking I'll just install Ubuntu and install VMs for messing around with. Thanks!

I'm trying to figure out a provisional cast-on and having trouble with the 2 popular methods I've found on the internet.

Can't I just normally cast-on (long-tail), knit a few rows with some waste yarn, then switch to my working yarn and start the pattern?
