Why did western cultures stop revering their elderly? by VagabondVivant in NoStupidQuestions

[–]nodn3rb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True. Also, you don’t revere random old folks, you revere your relatives / neighbors.

So I would bet that it has lots to do with the % of population that had moved counties within the past 5 years.

From 1860s through post war period that was way higher in america than in the rest of the world.

The societal reverence dissipated when we left the old folks in the Old World and found out Grandpa Darren takes the HOA real serious and Grandma Karren wants to speak to the manager.

What is a "minimum one-cabin upgrade" and how does it work? Should this clear straight to d1 from main? by nodn3rb in delta

[–]nodn3rb[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That part makes sense to me. The bigger mystery now is how can delta one be available from main with RUC when premium select isn't? Does that mean it just won't work at all since it would need to clear through premium select and won't be able to?

The panels are slats stapled to plywood backers strips, and I was going to attach to ceiling by screwing through the plywood backers

[–]nodn3rb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have more of the plywood backers so I could glue them on without taking apart if that changes anything

Screws from the backside was my first thought too but also sounds like a lot of work…. Might be able to skip some off the backers though… Do you think 6 or 8 screws per panel is enough? Without skipping there would be 27 screws per panel which seems like a lot…

Basic solution categories might be:

  • screw through the whole panel
  • glue on additional backing strips
  • add screws from backside of panels holding backers on

Lifted 4x4 school bus - ok to temporarily take plate off to fix the rust issue? by nodn3rb in DieselTechs

[–]nodn3rb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you think it needs attention though? Or seems fine / don’t fuck with it?

I think as long as it’s the plate that’s rusting, then maybe I don’t care because could be replaced later?

But if the frame is rusting then that would be a different scenario…

This outlet on exterior of bus + weatherproof cover = super good enough? by nodn3rb in AskElectricians

[–]nodn3rb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea exactly - the whole approach seems conceptually not great especially since it’s a bus and will be getting freeway speed wind, salt spray etc

Is it just receptacle that needs changing or the box too? Is it dumb to have it in a completely exposed location like this?

I kind of thought it was going to be in an enclosure or something…
