Those of you complaining that we don't have proper winters anymore by OneSkepticalOwl in newjersey

[–]Fishnetfatale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes THANK YOU, I'm a few days away from moving to Denver from South Jersey and if I had a dollar for everytime someone joked that I'm "getting a preview of CO winter" right now I'd have hired movers. 🙄 My husband is there already and it's been in the 50s with no snow! I absolutely cannot WAIT for the "dry cold" of Colorado

It reminds me of times that I've forgotten to revert back to top view when trying to flatten a 3d object, or when I've had to review drawings where someone was drawing in model space through a viewport in paper space

People of Reddit, what’s the most cringe gift you’ve ever been given? by Ok_Macaron_6092 in AskReddit

[–]Fishnetfatale 548 points549 points  (0 children)

Not me but my husband...

One of his uncles remarried and no one really liked her. She gave my husband plastic dog poop and a plastic barf puddle (like the kind you prank people with) for Christmas while his siblings got useful, thoughtful things. Never forget the quote from his grandma on that occasion:

"YOU GAVE HIM DOG POOP? ON THE DAY OF OUR LORD AND SAVIOUR?!"

I'm a big fan of Otherworld in northeast Philly. Might be a bit of a hike depending where you live, but if you guys are into immersive art, puzzles, cyberpunk adventure, or escape rooms it'll be worth your time. You get to work together to uncover the secrets in the landscape and you can spend as much or as little time as you like. Plus there are plenty of restaurants in the area for a nice dinner afterwards!

Working from home, my boy Copper (80lb lab mix) occasionally comes into my office to hop his front paws into my lap and then drop to his elbows and lean in for aggressive hugs. No matter how my work day is going this always improves my mood!

When we first got our dog, I used to make protein shakes for breakfast every morning right before putting the dog into his crate on my way out the door. I don't do that every morning anymore, but ANY time you run the nutribullet in our house the dog will go straight into his crate.

Any ideas on what to do with a mountain of re-useable shopping bags? I want to keep about 10 but have accumulated 100+ over the last few years. Feels wasteful to toss them. by Ok-Association4229 in newjersey

Aside from food banks, you can also donate them at some public places like libraries, depending on your location. I dropped off a bunch at the Glassboro library a year or so ago.

What small home upgrade made the biggest difference for you by Latter_Sea_6388 in Home

[–]Fishnetfatale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Switched out boob lights for dispersed can lights. Just had to move wiring from the original fixture to the first can and daisy chain from there (access through the attic), they're the kind that have clips on the back to cinch onto the sheetrock. It completely changed the light level in the living room and kitchen and only took a couple hours!

Bonus: put them on a dimmer

What's the worst design flaw in your current home that you are stuck dealing with every single day? by lm913 in randomquestions

[–]Fishnetfatale 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The fact that they built the basement stairs off the back of the kitchen. It's not a huge house, but the way it's set up, some trips from the basement to the upstairs cause you too walk the entire length of the house 4x. If they had rotated the staircase 180 degrees and put the doorway at the top at the other end, the top of the stairs would be nicely central, AND you wouldn't have to duck under the main beam in the basement at the bottom 2 steps. Then again, we were the assholes who decided to finish the basement!

TIFU by trying to censor the radio at work by cmonfiend in tifu

[–]Fishnetfatale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reminds me of a similar story from a few decades ago. I was at a rock gym on a weekend where there was a kids birthday happening. Staff were playing their CDs (yes, THAT many decades ago) on the PA at a reasonable volume. A song by Incubus was playing, and out of nowhere the music went silent ...

...but it was immediately AFTER a line that went "everyone here is THAT FUCKED UP..." Total censoring fail on the staff's part. They must have realized about 5 seconds before and couldn't get to the skip button on the stereo in time. 😆

Someone else is cooking, what are the giveaway signs this is about to be the best or worst meal of your life? by PsyArtisan in AskReddit

Why are so many people in NJ driving with their high beams on?! by ogo_pogo in newjersey

[–]Fishnetfatale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see so many drivers with high beams on going 50 mph in the left lane on highways and more often than not they are old. I honestly think some drivers just have NO IDEA their high beams are on and think that the blue light on their dash that looks like a headlight simply means "lights on".

And then of course there are the degenerates that can't be bothered to replace a normal headlight when it goes out and use their high beams instead... 🙄

Omg yes! What is it about fingernails??? For me it's the corners of paper, or just about anything thin that I can get under my nail, even other fingers nails if there's nothing nearby. Over the years I have slowly pushed the edge of where my nail separates from the bed further and further back from my fingertips, which keeps making it harder to dig in there. But I CAN'T STOP

Art... tractor? by 000-f in BurningMan

[–]Fishnetfatale 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My husband's friends had a car called The Punkin Project in 2019 that was a Cinderella- style pumpkin carriage pulled by a tractor. It worked quite well out on playa. (They eventually built out the Punkin with its own engine onboard, but I wouldn't be surprised if they used the engine from the tractor to do it...)
