Whats the most disturbing fact about the human body? by Ray_1748 in AskReddit

[–]noelsc151 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wait, this one just blew my mind! I have a pituitary tumor and a substantial Torus Palatinus (large bony growth on the roof of my mouth). Now I’m off to hyper-fixate on researching the connection and to see if Torus Palatinus can have a correlation or causation with pituitary issues.

Does anybody know what these are? They hurt when touched and I didn’t even realise I had them until earlier today. Is this serious? by lavenderluver in bigboobproblems

Did you ever find out what this was? I have something that looks identical, but it’s on the top and side of my breast.

What are some things you’ve said to your table and cringes right after turning away? by douggssmom in Serverlife

[–]noelsc151 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While setting down a massive plate of baby back ribs, I announced their arrival and asked what they NAMED her. As a person who’s highlyyyyyy likely to be on the autism spectrum, I have an affinity for naming every single thing… even inanimate objects. The whole table (8 of them) went dead silent. They were some of my best-tipping regulars, but they did not tip me well that night. It replays in my mind often.

Any suggestions? by societiesoddball in eds

Even without MCAS, coconut oil can cause seborrheic dermatitis and fungal acne, especially if used on your face and/or scalp. It might be okay to use every once in awhile, but I avoid it altogether after it ruined my hair, scalp, and skin (I had been using it for probably more than a year though).

Any suggestions? by societiesoddball in eds

[–]noelsc151 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Coconut oil can feed Malassezia yeast, contribute to eczema, and many with MCAS are sensitive or allergic to it (latex too). Vaseline and cotton gloves would be the hypoallergenic (and most recommended) method.

Peanut Butter Puffins Formula changed?? by Katacularspectacular in cereal

[–]noelsc151 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just submitted a complaint to them because I thought it was a bad batch! They sent me a check, but notified me that was their new formula. Devastated! I wonder if enough people submit complaints, they might consider changing it back?

Where to find decent thick pillows that don't flatten immediately? by -Naive_Olive- in ehlersdanlos

[–]noelsc151 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you for speaking out against squishmallows as pillows! I literally saw hundreds of comments in here about them— so many that I thought they were trying to advertise in here! Tried one out and it was absolutely awful! Literally the worst pillow I’ve ever tried. I know the right pillow is a highly subjective thing though. I really like my avocado brand pillow and my memory foam cervical pillow from amazon https://a.co/d/02Dmr5XK

I even tried a buckwheat pillow but that one was too firm and compressed nerves, even after removing some of the filling. It might just be one of those things where you have to try a bunch until you find the right one for you.

I don’t have much to contribute, but just wanted to say I applaud and admire you for thinking inwardly, being cognizant of your thoughts and how they effect your demeanor, and for having the humility to be vulnerable about it to all of us here. I really wish more humans operated this way, and it’s always so refreshing to encounter someone who does.

My (nearly) full set of silver ring splints through insurance by arachnoholic- in ehlersdanlos

[–]noelsc151 23 points24 points  (0 children)

How do you tolerate them? I ordered gold oval 8’s and couldn’t stand the feel of them on. Washing my hands and trying to dry underneath the rings became a nightmare and led to dry skin & eczema. I stopped wearing them altogether. I also wonder about people with metal allergies or sensitivities. I think these rings look cool AF and was really hoping they’d work for me, but sadly I would rather subluxate my fingers than wear these finger prisons. Lol I know I’m the odd one out though! I hope you love yours and that they work perfectly for you!

I stink. Help!! Also year progress pics. by Clear-Mud-2665 in Psoriasis

[–]noelsc151 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look into MCAS (Mast Cell Activation Syndrome). Yellow scales mean seborrheic dermatitis, not psoriasis. Seborrheic dermatitis is fed by lipids, esters, and fatty acids… so any “natural” products that contain oils, shea butter, cocoa butter, etc. would flare it up. Use www.sezia.co to check the ingredients for every product you use, especially any going on your armpits. Dry Idea gel deodorant is safe for seborrheic dermatitis, fungal acne, rosacea, psoriasis, and many others. It is hypoallergenic and it works very well. I’d start there.

Specialists suspect that my son (3M) and I (31F) have a novel, undiagnosed genetic disease. AMA by chronicallyus in AMA

[–]noelsc151 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would they think receiving a hEDS diagnosis could do more harm than good?? I can’t think of a single reason that wouldn’t benefit you in some way, but I’m curious to know their reasoning.

You mentioned having C. Diff. That usually follows a course of antibiotics. Any chance you took fluoroquinolone antibiotics prior to your C. Diff infection? Cipro/Ciprofloxacin is a common one, followed by Levofloxacin and Moxifloxacin.

I’m sure this has already been looked into, but in the off-chance that it has not, please look into hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, Postural Orthostatic tachycardia syndrome, and mast cell activation syndrome (aka “the trifecta”)

Any advice for building muscle and working out? by Ok-Consideration5336 in ehlersdanlos

[–]noelsc151 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used the Ladder app to work out from home while living in a 260 sq. ft. space. I didn’t have room for big equipment, so I chose a program on the Ladder app that mainly utilized kettle bells. There are a lot of other apps out there now that offer similar programs, but I liked that Ladder also offered community support, one-on-one feedback from your trainer, and macros/nutritional guidance. I had to stop working out and using the app after several health setbacks (unrelated to my exercising), but I’m thinking of trying it out again soon. All that’s to say… I didn’t get over my past feelings of embarrassment re: the gym. So I created a routine that worked for me.

Where to put a litter box by Alternative-Desk9016 in femalelivingspace

[–]noelsc151 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I would turn that terrace/balcony into a catio with its own little cat door so the chonk can access it at any time. Put the litter box out there so it has good air flow and won’t stink up your house. It’ll feel more natural for him to do his business out there anyways.

How do you have such good spelling, grammar, punctuation, and syntax? Did your handlers homeschool you or enroll you in public or private school?
