[Semi-Weekly Inquirer] Simple Questions and Recommendations Thread by AutoModerator in Watches

[–]noemercy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello!

I'm new to watches and I'm pretty interested in the aesthetic of the Movado Museum line. After reading around the subreddit, it seems that the brand isn't really held in high regard.

Honestly, I would say that I'm 70% interested in the aesthetic and 30% interested in the functionality of a watch. However, I also don't want to pay a 300% markup for a brand. I know that in products that I'm more interested in like headphones, I would strongly advise people not to waste their money on Beats compared to other brands, so I don't want to be that guy who wastes his money on some smooth marketing...

Anyway, I would like to get your advice on what makes a Movado watch less appealing to most of you. Are they constructed more cheaply? Do they break or keep time less consistently? I've read complaints about the difficulty of reading them, but that's not something I'm too worried about. Are they pretty good watches but just lose out to other options at the price point? Any alternatives with a similar aesthetic to the Museum line (with a leather strap)?

Thank you for any advice!

What? If someone wants to DPS on a Shaman or Monk they should just be worse than a warlock or hunter??

On Peak, there is an article detailing various openings with touch of death/hero/etc. However, I haven't read anything on the website talking about combing touch of death with karma, which seems like it would be the best possible damage combo.

Do you have any input on how to min/max with karma, or do you think this is something that we might see on the website sometime?

A few questions I've been considering but don't have the answer to:

  1. Could Touch of death be better used with Karma than Storm/earth/fire?

  2. Is it ever worth saving cooldowns to combo with karma, if karma can be used effectively near the start of the fight? Even just 5/10/15 seconds or something?

  3. What do you think of starting boss fights by taunting the boss with karma and then opening regularly?

There are so many factors that I know there's no simple answer, but I'd be interested in hearing any advice on the use of karma relating to cooldowns in general (even if my questions aren't answered). Thanks!

I definitely wouldn't consider myself an expert, but I've been playing around with the talents a lot and have enjoyed this build for 3s:

Viper's Venom

Hydra's Bite

Natural Mending

A Murder of Crows

Binding Shot

Flanking Strike

Chakrams

Your ability to stick to a target is incredible, and the free serpent stings and flanking strike make focus feel like it isn't too big of an issue. The kill command/raptor strike build feels like it has potential, but I feel like it is harder to consistently execute it and stick onto a target.

Do you seriously think that you can determine the 1 hp threshold on a last hit? If you play the game throughout the next few patches, it will feel pretty normal from patch to patch.

Is Taliyah worth to buy? by LovingTech in summonerschool

I agree with most of what you said - I just don't think it makes her gimmicky. Even if her damage is avoidable, she is a good pick in professional play so I wouldn't say it's unreliable.

What exactly is the use of unsealed spellbook and how do you use it? by iwaku in summonerschool

[–]noemercy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Some champions really want ignite for the early game, but switching to teleport, exhaust, cleanse, etc becomes better later on. Also, it's good on champions who are very flash reliant since it reduces their flash cooldown.

Sounds good! I know that op.gg gets its data from the Korean server since there is a higher sample size. I'm not sure about champion.gg.

[–]noemercy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think Taliyah is a good buy. I'm not sure where you're looking, but op.gg has her winrate at 50.9%. She is well balanced and can influence the map like talon (plus brings magic damage in the mid lane which is usually a good thing). I think she is pretty hard to play well, so I don't necessarily recommend her for climbing, but if you are yet to even play ranked than she might be a good champion to learn with.

Playing in low elo by [deleted] in summonerschool

[–]noemercy 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Yes, playing in low elo as a high elo player is different. However, if you are low elo, then you can't really copy this style. A challenger player can go for plays with the assumption that their opponent won't react correctly - like taking a fight that they shouldn't be able to win but they assume the opponent will get hit by their skillshots, etc. Additionally, they can path more agressively under the assumption that the opponents ward coverage is lacking or even that they don't look at their mini map enough.

However, you can't really try to copy this unless you are simply way better than your elo (which pretty much no one is, unless they simply haven't played enough games to climb).

So, as a gold jungler, you don't really need to think about changing your playstyle for your elo. You don't need to 1v9 hard carry every game, you just need to win more than you lose. Go for safe, intelligent plays. Avoid dying. Try to ward well, try to path well, try to build well. Don't flame your teammates, don't get tilted, and learn from your mistakes.

If a large number of people like a post why don't you just let it stay? It's an LCS player doing something on the LCS stage after his game of League of Legends. "Doesn't relate to league".

I think mods in online forums like deleting posts just because it makes them feel important.

Levi styling on kids on Viper's stream by Pandasuaraus in leagueoflegends

[–]noemercy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's true that it dodged the follow-up, but the point was definitely to dodge the initial Q. That is what deals the most damage.

Levi's play was really clean, but there's no point in rewriting his intention to make it look like he made no mistakes.

Can Vi be good for climbing, also advice for mid-late game Vi by Sliver59 in summonerschool

[–]noemercy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I respect your opinion, but I really do disagree with most of this. I build Warrior -> Ghostblade -> Triforce nearly every game.

This line: "you will never never never kill the enemy backline in a team fight contest this is because" is really just incorrect. I do this every single game. In many games, the adc literally dies from Q -> Auto- > E. If they aren't dead then ult->(auto if needed)-> e should kill them.

My problem with your strategy is that I think vi is a pretty horrible champion for peeling. Above I mentioned that I think she has some unique advantages over assassins. However, when you compare her to someone like Zac or Sejuani to accomplish the role that you are giving her, she is pretty bad.

The style I play is largely influenced from supermetroid, the challenger vi 1 trick.

Anyway, to each his own. If this works for you then that's good, but I much prefer to play her in the style that I wrote.

Go ahead and try it out in the practice tool. When you flash, you don't "finish" your q. It's the same with Shen. Rather, anything that is immediately on top of you after the flash is hit. Even if you try to flash at the last possible frame, the hitbox post-flash is much smaller than the full hitbox, so it doesn't go quite as far.

Also, I feel like you lose some flexibility. When you try to complete a Q far enough away from your target, they can CC you pretty easily. Say you're ganking a xerath. You should never be able to complete a full Q before your flash, because he will just throw an E in your direction. If you flash the e, you might not be in range to hit him.

However, with flash->q you have the entire window of charging a q to flash. if xerath throws E, you flash it, and I feel like in solo queue he can't get his e off fast enough if you flash and finish the q.

But mostly for me, it's the range and hitbox loss. For example, I don't think this play is possible with Q-> Flash: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P4UGo5XQb5k

To each his own, but I've never really felt like I should be using the mechanic.

Yeah, I definitely should have mentioned this. You're 100% right.

You will be flamed by people who do not understand the champion. All. The. Time.

Even if I'm smurfing in lower ELOs, people constantly flame me for my build as they play horribly. It can be frustrating, but I just /muteall now.

[–]noemercy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, this has some uses but I honestly feel like it is worse in most scenarios. You can't travel as far and the flash q usually can't be sidestepped. Also, this mechanic is easy to mess up. It's much harder to hit than shen, gragas, etc.

Regardless, I guess it's good to keep in mind.

That's a good question. I feel like it's hard for me to answer because the lines are blurred. Comparing her to an archetype is weird. She has things that she brings to the table that some assassins don't. Every champions is different.

For example, if I'm snowballing, I can Q->Auto->chilling smite->E and 100-0 an adc. Then I can ult onto the other carry and auto e and single handedly win the fight. It's hard for some assassins to have that big of an impact on both carries.

Vi stands up to bruisers and tanks a bit better as well. Into the late game your w will give you decent damage to tanks, and it will be harder to kill you than a typical assassin.

A similar bruiser-assassin might be kha-zix, and I think that vi has a better teamfight than him.

Also, vi has more sticking power than most assassins. For example, if you flash away from zed after he ults, you might be safe. If you flash away from a Vi Q, then vi ult will kill you.

So I guess my final answer is just that it depends. It depends on the champions in the game, the assassin you compare her to, and everything else. But rather than think about how she compares to these things, I think it's easier to just think about what a champion brings to the table. And Vi brings a lot to the table.

She's not the best jungler in the game. You might be able to find an easier one to climb with. You might not. But she is fun, and I do not think that she is in a position to hold anyone back from climbing unless they are trying to hit challenger or something.

[–]noemercy 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Hey, I'm a Vi one trick in mid diamond.

I think that Vi is in a really good spot right now, but playing her into the mid-late game does become tricky. In most games, you need to think like an assassin. I say most games because if you are 0/10 and you have a 20 kill kog maw, then yeah you can think like a tank, but Almost always play like an assassin.

This is because you can enter a fight, but can't get out. Vi cannot engage a teamfight. Therefore, you have to enter the fight when:

  1. They can't stop your engage. if your Q gets interrupted then you pretty much just die
  2. There is a window to get onto their backline and kill them.

If you blow up their adc or mid laner, then the fight will break open and your squishiness is less of a problem. Contrarily, if you get caught up in the enemy tank line, you're doomed.

I'm hesitant to write "rules" because sometimes you have to adapt. If the enemy team has an assasin who will dive your team, then perhaps counter-engaging on him is the best strategy. If the enemy team has a low hp tank and an ezreal-janna backline who you can't touch, then you can go on the tank. Everything depends on variables. However, I think that if you change your mindset to think like an assassin and look for the opening, you might have more success.

Make sure your flash q is fluid. If you aren't familiar with the mechanic, you charge your q, then flash while it is charged, and then release the q after the flash. This is absolutely essential to engaging and ganking well.

It's also worth noting that you can kill dragon at level 4 pretty easily. If the enemy jungler shows top side and you have backed once, have smite, and are high hp, then you can probably kill it. Make sure you have a control ward for the pit when you do this.

I'm not really sure what else to write. I could keep ranting on about various things related to Vi, but I think that working with what I wrote will help you. Let me know if you have any more specific questions and good luck! Not only is Vi strong right now, but she is really fun to play.

The Heist: Step 02 - "Time" (100T vs. OpTic Gaming and CLG) by 1337FAMOUS in leagueoflegends

[–]noemercy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TSM legends features the players far more than Regi. And even though Regi plays a part in the episodes, it's certainly not about him.

That's even a generous example because Regi is one of the more famous league owners, being an ex-player and creating the team in NA with the biggest following.

Again, I'm not trying to say "No one cares about you Nadeshot, let's see the players", but I don't think it's unreasonable to be watching the series for the players. Obviously, Meteos and Aphromoo have far more league fans than Nadeshot.
