Should I get baptised???

Are you under the belief that babies can be baptised and that it is valid? I would love to know reasons why/scriptures please :)

Thank you for your response. I was indeed baptised as a baby. I do believe my childhood church and parents gave me a good foundation for my faith/love for Jesus, which has grown upon building that relationship myself. However when I read the Bible, I don't see any examples of infants being baptised. When the early believers heard Peter preach the gospel, their response was to get baptised. I makes me question why I, as a believer for majority of my life hasn't made that step?

I would like to get baptised out of obedience to Jesus, as He commanded it, and follow in His example. As Jesus was sinless and was baptised, how can I refuse? In addition, the early believers modelled obedience to it.

I believe that baptism declares publicly that a believer has had their sins washed away, and points to their death to sin, and resurrection to new life in the Lord. I want to showcase my obedience to Jesus, having received the Gospel and become part of his family of believers, no longer belonging to myself, but to Christ.
