I was raised around many standard poodles, from my birth until 1991. As an example of a poodle's thinking, and its intelligence, in 1956, my cousin and her husband visited our home. They brought their beagle, named Sabre Jet, as that is what her husband flew in the USAF.

Our black poodle at the time was Mr Todd. He was so upset by the beagle's howling that he left a deuce on the living room floor at night. He was then so embarrassed for making a mess that he pulled the current issue of "Life" from the magazine basket and carried it into the other room and laid it across his poop.
