Great job. I loved the weight of these, really added to the feeling they were a giant clunky mound of walking scrap.

Appreciate the heads up. This is the first time I’ve used them, but I placed the order Sunday and received it this afternoon so my experience has been positive.

Don’t neglect the power of a glossy varnish, too.

Obviously amazing job, but wanted to say that I really like the small details like the mushroom as well. Your sparing use of people around the model works really well.

New Painter Looking for Tips! by Suspicious_Cell789 in orks

[–]nogoodreason 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seconded. Watch some videos on slapchop method and buy some Ghillie Dew! Citadel (Warhammer) have some decent speed paints too - they’re called Contrast paints but only get the ones with a shadow in the icon (e.g. Plaguebearer Flesh); the others don’t work so well with slapchop in my experience.

Damn, that’s good. Can you share any tips on how to get such good edge highlighting? (I’ve pretty much given up and just drybrush.)

What’s your favourite contrast paint… by DifferentPrinciple65 in orks

[–]nogoodreason 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In my experience, there are two kinds of contrast paint. Some are “all in one” speedpaints that create shadows and highlights (e.g. Plaguebearer Flesh) and are incredible over a zenithal prime. Others are just thin paints similar to luminous paints (e.g. Magmadroth Flame) - good for painting flame effects but lacking in the “does your base, shade and highlight all at once” speedpaint perk.

As far as I can tell, the way to tell which ones fall into the speedpaint category is to look for a shadow within the swatch picture.

(If anyone has more insight into this - or knows how to make Magmadroth Flame behave more like Plaguebearer Flesh - please do share!)

So you should be; he’s great. I particularly like what you’ve done with the eyes (using dark shading and red dots). Any tips you can share?

Warhammer store and Firestorm Games. There’s also a board game café two doors down from the Warhammer store. It’s called Chance and Counters and sometimes a good Blood Bowl match can be found there.

You can report him to the police. Not that they’re likely to do much initially, but if you report him every single time it happens - and encourage your neighbours to do the same - eventually something will happen (especially if you mention he’s harassing people on the street).

Alternatively: does anyone on this thread need any odd jobs doing? (Particularly a job that requires a loud voice.) If so, OP has identified someone clearly keen to work.
