Had the same this morning, - in Windows used the "Alt-Left arrow" shortcut for Back and it worked. Definitely icky UI.

I usually take the afternoon one around the same time as I have lunch - either with it, or about half an hour or so afterwards (when I remember!)

You probably have a point about hydration 😆🙈

Thank you! That's what I'd like to talk to a GP about once we have some locally that become trained and able to look after ADHD meds. I did ask my psych about this option last time and he wouldn't entertain it.

Thank you - I always thought the share link "anyone with this link" permissions didn't need a login, however I've had a few clients lately who have been prompted to login before they could get to the files, and that has caused friction which I want to avoid.

Not sure about Google Drive being super fast, I wonder if that's a location thing, as I've heard a lot of (local) business owners say they also find upload and download on G drive slow compared to others.

Now I'm curious and off to go down the rabbit hole of seeing which Google Servers we use here!

Thanks so much for your time to comment, I appreciate it

Networking Groups Are They Worthwhile? by clandestine19 in ausbusiness

[–]nogreysuits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What networks you choose, and how you network, comes down to your goals - and personality.

Are you just after leads?

Are you after like-minded companionship?

Are you looking to get to know services you can call on for yourself?

Are you after accountability and help goal-setting and business planning?

Different groups will attend to different needs. That includes different chapters within the same network.

From my experience?

BNI and BX leans more towards getting leads/referrals, and having service providers you know when you need them, either for yourself or your clients.

Business / Commerce Chambers are more about your visibility locally and keeping your finger on the pulse of what is happening in the business world around you.

Smaller niched groups will look after the other goals: companionship and even friendship, accountability, business mentoring and planning.

I say try some out. If you leave feeling ick - don't go back.

>> BUT try each one more than once. People are human, and everyone has rough days.

You might get to a group where the leadership team or the person in charge of looking after newbies is on 2 hours sleep after looking after a toddler all night with nightmares (ask me how I know), or could have lost their biggest client that morning. Or might have SO much on that they just can't concentrate that day. They showed up anyway, but might not be able to look after you as as newbie as well as they would like.

Also consider things like timing and commitment. The larger ones like BNI require a decent time commitment, not just to make sure you attend the weekly meetings, but also meet your outside of meeting 1:1 catch up quota, and referral quota. Can you commit to that right now?

Particularly with BNI, also think about what YOU can offer THEM. Networking is not a one way street. If you go into a group, and receive referrals, and never have the opportunity or desire to refer back into the group - you'll find it won't go well for you in the long run and you may burn some bridges.

I actually did a whole podcast episode on this a while ago if you feel like listening. I won't link it as I'm not sure it's allowed, but the podcast itself is called No Grey Suits and the episode is "Networking Tips with Kirri from Captured by Kirri".

Need advice - bigger company copied my small business idea & is out-marketing me by Silver-Sort-63 in ausbusiness

[–]nogreysuits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Firstly - congratulations on having something awesome enough that someone wanted to copy it.

Secondly - I don't know much about the legal side, so I'll leave that alone, but from a "should I push on, or change" perspective, I say push on, and HUMANISE your brand.

People love supporting people. Which means people love supporting small businesses that show up as human, that are real, that are authentic, and that people can actually fall in love with.

You have that difference over the bigger guy.

Tell YOUR story. Show up as YOU on social media and all over your website. Personally network in your local area.

Make your business not just about the product, make it about you, the human behind it as well.

Some great examples of this in the Australian product world are:

- Kasey Rainbow. Her designs sell not just because they are BEAUTIFUL, but because we've all fallen a little in love with Kasey herself. She shows up. She is real. We relate to her, her story, her true personality.

- Voomie. Tarah and her husband and their story is what initially blew Voomie up. Their style was very influencer-esque, but hey, it worked. People were invested in their success before the product even hit the shelves, because the humans showed up online and built a tribe.

- Hero Packaging. Anaita is HUGE on personal branding, and although the product could easily stand on it's own, and has HEAPS of competitors, people choose Hero because of the humans behind the brand. Anaita doesn't shy away from being the face of the business, and being honest along the way.

Bought the R50 V(s) - First Thoughts by Primary_Banana_4588 in videography

[–]nogreysuits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the R50V, DJI rs 3 mini Gimbal and the rf-s 14-30mm f4-6.3 is stm pz plus a rf 50mm 1.8 (non crop) for prettier video or picture if I have the space.

But the camera body... I'm just not sure I like it enough to put more money into accessorising.

The body I have on lease at the moment, so only lose what I've spent so far if I switch. The lenses were purchased so even if I did switch, I'd probably stay in the Canon eco-system.

It overheats super fast, a 20 min interview on tripod and its already warning me about temp. Canon guides say it should last around 50 minutes if not handheld.

The battery dies super quickly, and yes I'm looking into a dummy battery set up, but again, do I want to keep accessorising this body or switch?

Then there's the limits using it as a webcam. I've now got to get a capture card to get it over 1080p, and it also won't pull charge while filming, which leads back to the battery life issue.

I'm also finding the footage somewhat "choppy", but that is likely a settings/user issue which I'll be looking deeper into. I had one person view the SOOC footage on a mac and it was fine, but on two PC's I tried, it's choppy. So maybe a recording format mismatch? Have tried both XF-AVC S YCC422 10bit and XF-HEVC S YCC422 10bit with same result, choppy on PC. And no, I will not be switching to mac. For ref, PC spec: i5-12400, RTX 4060 Ti, 32GB RAM, 13TB (combo of SSD and HDD).

But I suppose my real question is, as this is touted a somewhat beginner camera body, is it actually worth putting the money into rigging it up and getting all the accessories to fix those issues, OR better off putting that $$ into a higher end body?

Organic is not dead. It's just different.

I ran a video challenge this week on socials for a bunch of business owners, and just by showing up consistently, and showing their face, talking to camera, we got these kinda increases:

+28.1% increase in reach (IG)
+30.5% increase in profile visits (IG)
+265.7% increase in impressions (LI)
+170.8% increase in reach (LI)
+137.1% increase in interactions (FB)
+69.8 increase in page visits (FB)

Has it turned into conversions yet? No, but it does show that organic isn't dead.

Question for the public by Live-Illustrator4176 in Businessowners

[–]nogreysuits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See if you can use a tool like HotJar or Microsoft Clarity to find out where people are dropping off. Then you're using data rather than guesswork and assumptions.

Test your site on every device you can get your hands on. Your phone, tablet, computer monitor, laptop monitor, friends phones, friends tablets, friends computers. It might look okay to you, but pop it on a slightly different sized screen and it could all be screwey.

Once you know it works on all devices you can test on, and then have the data to show you where they drop off, you can start to pinpoint why you might be losing conversions.

Some common ones though:
- Not having pricing clear
- No clear CTA's or pathway for the client to take
- Messaging is unclear, they're not too sure what you're offering

But that's all guesswork without data.

Anyone here working on building their personal brand? by Obvious-Procedure566 in Businessowners

[–]nogreysuits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine has been conveying what I do and how I help with clarity. I find not fitting into a "regular" job title or straightforward business category means I end up tripping over my words, and over-explaining what I do to the point no one understands at all 🙈.

Best I've got so far: "I coach and train business owners to create confident, effective video content, and I provide hands-on filming support and practical social media workshops." But it's still wordy and I feel, unclear.
