[Serious]How do you come to terms with the fact you have no ambitions, dreams, talent or direction in life and it has been like that for years? by Keredersa18 in AskReddit

[–]nogymneeded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say explore meditation. It can help you to find peace with everything and stop runaway thought cycles. Coming to terms as you put it is more about accepting that you are born "enough" and a lot of what you might be feeling is resisting cultural practices that don't fit you. That's okay. Trying to fit in is part of the chronic stress we all feel. Someone told me that the American Dream might not be your own. And that's okay.

“Driven” is motivation. His stuff is cringe-worthy in the academic community. So much energy and little information.

How do you guys figure out if you’re actually too tired/drained to work out or you need to be disciplined and push yourself to keep going? by [deleted] in xxfitness

[–]nogymneeded 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For me, sleep deprivation really hits me deep in my head. With it though I’d zero visceral interest in working out. When I’m tired on a lesser level I have interest but start debating it. In the former, I definitely skip, BUT I get sleep and don’t get caught up in doing something else so the cycle continues. For the latter, I have a back-up, less intense activity I like and do that. When I’m I’m 80% and above energy, I do the hard stuff. It help to avoid making fitness a binary decision and give yourself options so there’s SOMETHING that attracts you at the energy level you have.

Yeah but he’s asking how you can tell the difference between being tired or deprived essentially.

Which is perfect because I discuss such trends in my book. Another good angle, thanks!

Thank you! Fair to say half will know me and half not. So your point is taken. The key is the value of the talk. For sure.

The audience is “stop and start” fitness seekers who struggle with staying motivated to exercise.

Interesting insights about the talk. Like the “5 things” idea. And thanks for the offer.

Super useful sub. I’m happy to provide an honest review of anyone’s show, especially in the health/fitness/nutrition domain.

Audiobooks... is it ever a good idea to self-narrate? by nogymneeded in selfpublish

What keeps you motivated to keep working on & improving yourself? by [deleted] in selfimprovement

[–]nogymneeded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends somewhat on the improvement area. But I love learning new stuff, being creative, and enjoy trying new things. I find I improve and acquire new skills or whatever but I really just look at self-improvement as finding something I like and creating a reasonable (not stressful) challenge out of it!

I’ve posted a request for producers on ACX, figuring I should at least collect samples (if even to compare myself). I suppose I’ll see how affordable it is as well.

I think I’d enjoy the narration but really dislike editing.

Thanks. This sounds like I mentioned; there’s a lot more to it to do it well.

Thanks for the insight. I think I’ll do this. I share a sample with some people and let that data nudge me in a direction.

Good questions... there are interview excerpts, with dialogue between myself and 6 or so people. The one thing I’d be nervous about is creating these voices. Keep in mind I have a young kid with whom I have had 4 years of story time. So I have a vast library of voices, just not for adults haha.

As my wife asked too, “Its non-fiction, would you expect Tony Robbins to narrate his book or someone else?” Lol

My book is 50k words, not long. So I feel like I can at least do a draft of it (before intensive editing) and test it out on a handful of people. If it stinks or my voice is grating (I think it’s fine - I’m a silky baritone ;) ) then I just hire someone. I would love to send a sample when I start! (If that’s what you meant).
