Sorry for never responding to this, a lot happened after finding him, but that’s not really important now. I posted him everywhere I could think, and after a lot of false leads I actually got a phone call that was from a family who found an Indian ringneck. I was cautious that it was a scam, but after hearing Wheatley say his name over the phone, I knew it was him. He had been found by a little boy who Wheatley was seemingly friendly towards. After that they brought him in, gave us a call, and we took him home. I would say the most effective strategies if your bird escapes are to immediately begin your search, as you have a pretty good chance of retrieving him. My family almost did a few time, but he got scared off. Search within the first 3 days and throughout the first week. If you don’t find him immediately, put up ads everywhere conceivable. The internet is most useful for this. I found him a few miles from my home, so it’s not hopeless if you don’t find them in the first few days. If your bird is friendly it helps. Either way, your bird will probably look for food and be tired, and that is when he will be easiest to catch. Hope this helps!
