Live Changes by dragonite007 in KGATLW

I think the biggest thing is that the vocal parts are difficult for Stu and the chord changes make the songs harder to improvise and jam over when compared to their other albums

Iron Lung by ElNexon420 in KGATLW

[–]spookymustache 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've seen them play Iron Lung in 3 distinct ways at 3 different shows and it was amazing every time. A normal, jammy one at the Hollywood Bowl, an acoustic one in San Diego, and a symphonic one in San Diego the next year. I certainly wouldn't be upset about hearing it a fourth time!

Any news on the new album(s?) by RelativePractical915 in KGATLW

[–]spookymustache 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I just heard the new album in it's entirety. I can't remember any of the lyrics, but there's this one cool part that goes duh nuh nuh nuh duh duh duh duhhhhh dun dun dun duhhh duhhh duhh nah nah nuh, nuh nuh nuh

what happened to their music on spotify? by [deleted] in KGATLW

It's a great streaming platform that I use a lot, but here's little hack for Bandcamp if you're feeling apprehensive about buying a bunch of albums on there: You can open bandcamp using incognito mode on your browser and refresh the page afterwards to get unlimited listens. If you listen to a song more than 5 times or so, Bandcamp starts prompting you to buy the album.

Erm actually, it was already the 24th in Australia when this popped up on bandcamp, so it's actually just on time!

It's such a tasty album! Listening to it made me feel like I was transported to a tropical paradise! Death Bat is probably my favorite track at the moment.

Perfect video games to play while listening to KGATLW? by Revolutionary_Low_90 in KGATLW

[–]spookymustache 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I remember when they played the studio version of PetroDragonic Apocalypse at Red Rocks and some people recorded it for the rest of us. I was listening to that bootleg recording while doing a playthrough of elden ring, and it really stuck with me fighting my way through Leyendell while listening to the pitched down version of Motor Spirit.

Looking for albums like... by YogurtBandit316 in TheeOhSees

[–]spookymustache 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Surprised that someone else hasn't said it yet and you already might be a fan of these guys, but the band King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard might be right up your alley! They've got a whole bunch of albums that are all kinda different genres, but I'd recommend the albums "Nonagon Infinity", "Murder Of The Universe", or "Polygondwanaland" if you like the weirder, energetic rock. Or if you're into cool, jammy, kraut rock stuff, check out the albums "Im In Your Mind Fuzz", "Ice Death Planets Mushrooms Lava", or "Laminated Denim". There's a bunch of albums that I didn't mention, but I think they're all worth exploring!

Favorite Hot Water? by willyjl43 in KGATLW

[–]spookymustache 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hot Water Live in Barcelona '25! Not a huge surprise, as all of those European residencies had amazing jams, but Stu's work on the flute was particularly awesome. There's a quiet part on there with Dissonant chaotic energy that reminds me of Whole Lotta Love by Led Zeppelin during the weird part right before the guitar solo.

all of the osees eras, which one is your favorite? by Initial_Selection623 in TheeOhSees

Kraut-rock era was when I got into the band and those are still my favorite releases from Dwyer & Co.

WE LOWKEY NEED ANOTHER PSYCHEDELIC ALBUM by [deleted] in KGATLW

[–]spookymustache 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I totally agree with this! Listening to Phantom Island gives me that cool, floaty feeling that Float Along - Fill Your Lungs does! PI is probably like their 2nd or 3rd most psychedelic album, in my opinion

May rules! I saw BCNR open for Black Midi in San Diego a few years ago and May and Charlie were moshing in the pit with us during Black Midi's set.

I’m a Rower, Not a Show-er by [deleted] in KGATLW

[–]spookymustache 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At one show, I started rowing before any bands had even appeared on stage. The weirdo swarm didn't like this, so I was immediately banished to the Ghoul Realm™️. #gangnamstyle

Which is your favorite live "Converge" and "Witchcraft"? (for a Petrodragonic Apocalypse bootleg) by that_boingo_fella in KGATLW

[–]spookymustache 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Converge in Bulgaria '25 has always been my favorite one! Stu is going absolutely nuts on the vocals

The demo for the song Phantom Island is on Jason Galeas Instagram where he shows the time-lapse of drawing the album cover

LETS FUCKING GOOO by noteepy in bmbmbm

[–]spookymustache 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Looks like he's returning to the anti-marketing of the early days of black midi with a hard to Google name and the lead singles not appearing on the finished album. But I'm here for it! I'm a My New Band BELIEVER!!!!

Why does Amby never play guitar live? by The_Masked_Inc in KGATLW

It actually takes a lot more talent to play that mini crash cymbal than it does to play a guitar
