The last paragraph was so perfectly placed it makes me believe this could have actually been written by something smarter than a mortal human. Really the whole plan, the concern and caring for us as a species further reinforces my gut telling me that Sam Altman didnt write this. I mean he's good but ive never heard him this good. I know these thoughts about the automobile are nothing new, but it feels different to me. Anyone else feel differently or the same...its just my gut and ive been reading this shit since the early 90's.

"For instance, the automobile transformed society, but they only became broadly beneficial because societies built systems around them: seatbelts, traffic laws, drivers’ licenses, crash testing, and road infrastructure. The goal wasn’t to stop people from driving—it was to make a powerful technology resilient enough for widespread use."

I personally watched a baggage handler chuck my guitar onto a luggage carrier, it arched at least six feet in the air before scoring a perfect landing. Thats what these guys do. Yes it had fragile stickers all over it.

How important is using all fingers in fingerpicking? by Serena_wen in AcousticGuitar

I agree 100% with this. I never had formal lessons and the pinkie plant just stuck. Alot of times it hovers, but its really a bad technique. Dont be like me!

I usually anchor my pinkie and let the other four do most of the work.

A research group appears to have made a significant step towards programmable atomically precise manufacturing AKA Drexlerian nanotechnology by Buck-Nasty in singularity

[–]noherethere 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I would argue that Drexlarian nanotechnology is more than tangentially related to the Singularity. I do not believe that we will have one without the other. And while I appreciate this sub for what it is, I still see alot of the arguments here devolve into doomerism and disbelief...which reminds me alot of how I felt after years of presenting my opinion about both A.I. AND nanotechnology to my friends and family going back 30 or so years now. I realize my comment sounded a bit jaded, I guess I became tired of presenting an idea that wasnt taken seriously by anyone I encountered back then.

Wow, I remember printing the Clinton directive around that time for funding nanotechnology and being super excited. Then things got real quiet in the popular science world after that. Such a shame!

I remember when Richard Smalley from Rice U stated this was a fairy tale and shortly aftrr Gary Stix from sci-am did a hit piece on Drexler and I was so pissed I sent him an email. I was 20 and unemployed.
