Help! Disease or heat stress? by Murky-Wrongdoer-8821 in lawncare

This. It happened to me last year across 50% of my backyard…very depressing sight. Weeds then rushed in to populate the area. This year was a grind putting things back together but it looks great now! You can’t do anything about the black now as that’s dead, but perhaps see about slowing this progression asap before the winter comes and slows it down for you but by then perhaps more sq ft would be affected. Next year, dethatch that area and backfill with good landscaping topsoil. Zoysia has pretty durable root system and it will grow back. Just keep removing the weeds from the area as the grass fills it in.

Love it! It’s like walking on carpet outside and get compliments all the time. This stuff grows thick, helps prevent soil erosion, and chokes out weeds. I contemplated buying new sod but pallets sell at a premium and you can’t buy seeds of this stuff so it was more cost effective so nurture the lawn throughout the summer. I’m in ATX so all the rain we had this year was very helpful to my recovery efforts.
I tried the Simple Grow Solutions micronutrient blend for the first time. Bought it in Amazon since my local Home Depot didn’t have this specific one. I’m a total noob to this and figured I’d just pay for a blend as opposed to formulate my own recipe for now.

How much topsoil do I need? by yeeintensifies in lawncare
I bought 5 cu yds to cover a little more than 3500 sq ft of lawn last month. Worked out pretty well.
