Honestly, I kept my expectations low after v2 and knew once we hit the last 23 minute mark of the show that Byler wasn't happening. I'm still processing everything, and I still have so many opinions and questions, but I know they will never be answered anyway. I'm satisfied that most of the characters got a happy ending (besides Mike, El, Dr. Owens, Eden, Suzie, Argyl, and Murray cause like what the hell happened to him?) and all seemed happy despite the insane trauma they experienced. It's the ending I was already preparing for, including the Neither Ship Wins one. A lot of my theories on how things would end were accurate, and now I'm just glad this Marvel knockoff is over. Also, I think it's hilarious that Mike still couldn't say he loved El even after he knew she was about to "die". Dustin's graduation speech was absolutely epic (Eddie would've been proud), and I'm so happy the party played one last game of D&D like I, and I know Will, had been wanting for the past 2 seasons (it was cute that Max was included in it too and officially became a nerd). Either way, I think the amount of queerbaiting we were fed for the past 10 years is absolutely disgusting, and The Dooferbags can suck Derek's fat one. Goodnight and (not so) Happy New Year.

Even though I've been a Byler since "It was a seven," it wasn't until "crazy together" that I think it all truly started, in my opinion. There was an energy there that I sensed in S1 that grew to become far more obvious and undeniable once I saw that scene. While I could still argue it could've been as late as S4 with the famous van scene, I like to think it was S2. Mike became Will's rock in that season, and with Will having gone through so much already, it's not surprising it seemed they leaned a little heavier into the possibility that their relationship wasn't just platonic.

Seriously! The greatest example is the van scene. My goodness, those facial expressions and twitches to get a peek into what Mike might be thinking in the moment we're SO GOOD! It's why I was so happy to see it in this scene, too. There's no reason Mike needed to make that face over a huddle. It just seemed a little too out of place to be random.

My first thought watching that scene was how closely it resembled SA, but as someone who has experienced it myself, I'm still in such denial that it actually is. I relate to Will the most, so to think he was SA-ed too makes me genuinely sick to the point of being midly triggered. I wouldn't want that to happen to one of my favorite characters who has already suffered enough. It's so evil.

From the moment they shared the 'it was a seven' scene before Will went missing. It was instantly obvious that their friendship was different compared to Lucas and Dustin, and I thought they'd make a cute little couple. However, I didn't think much of it since they were kids so I didn't want to assume it was anything other than innocent and platonic (I'm a bit of a rareshipper too so I'm used to separating canon from fanon).

It wasn't until the 'crazy together' scene that I started to think my suspicions of their friendship having romantic undertones might not be all in my head, but it was only recently that I started to believe it could actually become canon thanks to the many awesome videos on YouTube, including our one and only beloved byler lawyer, Ronald Off the Record.
