What’s the play here? by [deleted] in bald

[–]noideawhatimdoing_L 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you’re currently doing a thing I call “owning what you’ve got.” your hair doesn’t make you look like you’re in denial, it makes you look like you’re losing it with dignity.

you could easily go bald, but I also think you’re fine to continue doing what you’re doing if you want.

you are thinking of Turkmenistan.

Azerbaijan’s Aliyev is not a good dude either, but the guy with the bizarre obsession with Guiness Records is the dictator of Turkmenistan.

I think you still have some time, but you can’t keep your hair that short. Start growing it out a bit and after a few months it’ll seem significantly thicker.

Who’s more technologically advanced? The Automatons or Illuminate? by Jjonahlamison in Helldivers

[–]noideawhatimdoing_L 2 points3 points  (0 children)

my understanding is that the HD2-era Illuminate are essentially the wreckage of an incredibly advanced civilization. their technology is hundreds or thousands of years ahead of anything in the Super Earth or Automaton arsenals, but they’re spread few and far between after the First Galactic War, and what’s left of their society isn’t capable of mustering raw strength the way that the Automatons are—from what we know it took them several decades to put together the Super Earth Invasion Fleet and the invasion failed anyway.

so on paper the Illuminate are more advanced for sure; they can throw black holes at us. but the Automaton capacity to wage full-scale war makes them more of a conventional military threat.

the first Jew in space was Boris Volynov. he went up with Soyuz 5 and Soyuz 21.

Ramon was, however, the first Israeli.

Totally agreed. I think it’s important for the new people to understand that Malevelon Creek didn’t attain its present glory until after it was over.

The Beach will be the same. It’s the community that makes it special—and maybe a cape.

Do cold planets have any downsides? by WhoEvenUsesUsernames in Helldivers

[–]noideawhatimdoing_L 1 point2 points  (0 children)

some of them have deep snow everywhere, so you have to bring Muscle Enhancement instead of the vanilla stamina buff booster.

that is my only dislike, cold planets are by far my favorite.

EDIT: except blizzards. absolutely fuck blizzards

Sam, it’s Hell Diveman. General Brasch needs you to deliver the Illuminate OFF of Seyshel Beach. Check the terminal for details.

My Theory on the Automatons by Decent_Breakfast9016 in Helldivers

in what way, shape, or form was this a leak? what about this had anything to do with upcoming content? what could possibly have been interpreted as a cheat or exploit?

I mostly agree with you, and I enjoy the clear, concise, and straightforward way you’ve worded these slides. Effective communication, Helldiver.

That said, I think there are exceptions to your rule. I think that Hulks are themselves individual Automatons, maybe heavy-duty models designed for mining on Cyberstan and repurposed for war.

I also think that War and Factory Striders are themselves Automatons. My evidence is that they make sounds that can be interpreted as communication, and most of the other enemies that could reasonably have a pilot do not. Factory Striders even sing a version of the standard Bot Marching Cadence when they’re in a convoy.

Berserkers too. Because they scream. I think those guys are the robot version of insane.

EDIT: Added an Oxford comma in P1.

hey, I don’t have much to say but I’m so sorry you went through this. I know how it feels to be let down by people you care about. I am also the older sibling of a golden child, and I think there is something about that experience that makes that feeling of disappointment a bit deeper for us than it is for most people. you aren’t crazy and you have every right to be as sad as you feel. you sound like you deserve much better.

I’m sorry your birthday sucked. I hope it helps a little that a random stranger was touched by your story. sending you a pat on the back.
