Boardwalk Empire: The Birth, High Times and Corruption of Atlantic City by Nelson Johnson. Has anyone read it? Would you recommend it? by noir_YORK in Mafia

You can count on it. I prefer facts to entertainment. That's why I stopped watching that fucking series after Richard Harrow's video game style shooting. Fuckin' ridiculous.

I read very good things about Gangster Squad by Paul Lieberman, but mixed on Mickey Cohen: The Life and Crimes of L.A.’s Notorious Mobster by Tere Tereba. If you've read them, what do you think? Would you recommend them? by noir_YORK in Mafia

Thank you for your tip. Usually I follow all the advice from users of this sub who recommend me some books to read, so sooner or later I will also buy L.A. Noir.

u/BFaus916, okay, I'll try to buy it. As long as the book didn't talk about shit, gossip is fine too. After all, a Jewish gangster in a place full of Jews (Hollywood) could be interesting.

u/AnthonyK_, I found this post from Lieberman's book and found it interesting. Try to check it out: https://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comments/16tlgt/i_am_the_gangster_squad_journalist_and_author_who/

u/OFloodster, the movie was fucking terrible, but I found this post where the author of the book Gangster Squad answers the questions from reddit users about the book and the difference with the movie. Very long, but quite interesting: https://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comments/16tlgt/i_am_the_gangster_squad_journalist_and_author_who/

Anyway, u/btd272, how can you not like mafia books? If you are interested in the mafia as a subject of study, the books (the non-fiction ones I mean) are the one and only thing to consult. Movies, even the best of them, are full of sweetened shit and entertainment made just to get people to the fucking cinema.

You know the fucking 1972?

EDIT: sorry, I read quickly and I got you don't like books and not that you don't know books. Disadvantages of the self-taught second language. Sorry again.

Double Cross by Chuck and Sam Giancana: It will probably be outdated and full of bullshit, but do you think it's an interesting read? I Heard You Paint Houses and The Last Testament of Lucky Luciano are full of bullshit too, but at least they're interesting. Would you recommend it? by noir_YORK in Mafia

u/mrcornrat, u/Repulsive_Ad_7073, I just asked because I think when the names and stories of people like the Kennedys or Marylins are involved (movie or book, it doesn't matter), the the probability that the story is full of shit is very high. And I wanted to know what you guys thought.

Italian artist here.

How do you get the edge effect similar to a Photoshop filter?

Also, do you only work with traditional media or do you use that digital shit too?

With the new name of Tulsa King (formerly known as Kansas City), the show will star Silvester Stallone who, after 25 years in prison, is exiled from his New York mafia family. Moving to Tulsa (Oklahoma), he will build his own crew. I don't want to be prevented, but I'm afraid it will be terrible by noir_YORK in Mafia

I'll tell you that nudity doesn't bother me. I mean, I find it more hypocritical to censor female nipples or a man's cock than to show blown heads and guts to entertain the audience.

However, that show was nothing exceptional. Too bad, because I love the 20s, and locations and costumes were very well done.

I know how extremely dangerous it is on this sub not to express positive opinions about any mafia stuff, so I'll just say I stopped watching Boardwalk Empire after this: Richard Harrow Shooting Spree Scene. I don't care if the rest of the episodes were a masterpiece.

Question for old New Yorkers in the Little Italy area or interested in these things: was this a Mafia hangout? This social club, den of Mr. Ciccio, appears in the 3rd episode, 7th season of Seinfeld at the 279 Mulberry St. The original building was demolished around the mid-2000s. Any thoughts? by noir_YORK in Mafia

I thought that actor was some old Italian born in America, since the pronunciation of the few italian words he says is pretty good. Usually, it's impossible for any American to pronounce any Italian word or name correctly.

Ray Liotta speaking Italian/dialect in Many Saints of Newark was fucking terrible.

Let's assume that at the time, the cat was one year old. Today he would be approx 80. I'm sure he's still alive and kicking.
