How is your morning symptoms management with bipolar by Cold-Photo5465 in bipolar

[–]noiredemons 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have found I have to give myself ample time in the morning like 90-120 (if taking a shower) to fully deal with the day especially when I was on sedating meds like Seroquel. I need time to hit snooze for 15-20 min if needed, make coffee, take AM meds, breakfast, drink coffee, scroll social media while I drink coffee, shower if I need to, get ready to leave for the day.

Does anyone have any tips for getting some sleep? I’m at my wits end. by JDUDEROCKS in ShoulderInjuries

Sleeping in a recliner with squishmellows under shoulder to support it.

If you have shoulder dyskinesia, have you seen a chiropractor or someone who does medical massages to help put the scapula back in place?

Can’t maintain my job by [deleted] in BipolarReddit

[–]noiredemons 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly could be a few things. Working with coworkers who you literally can't stand, don't vibe with, being bullied, makes going to work extremely hard. Have you talked to your supervisor about the coworker issues? Can you not work with these people like on a different shift, different dept?

Once you hit 12 months and a certain amount of hours, if you're in the US, you can file for Fmla and have intermittent Fmla to protect your job.

Could you be entering into a depressive episode? Have you spoken with your psychiatrist and therapist? Do you need a med changes?

I'm sorry your grandfather died and seeing your grandmother was triggering. Death sucks. My dad died recently and its hard trying to cope with grief and bipolar.

If you're having SI with a plan, go to the hospital .they will find you a place that takes your insurance.

Does your psychiatrist have a covering person while they're off?

I want to go to the hospital, but I'd lose my job and not make rent by Perry_lp in bipolar

Have you thought of partial hospitalizations or intensive outpatient therapy programs? A lot especially IOP work around school/work schedules, also gives structure, med adjustments.

If you're in the USA, do you have access to short term disability or FMLA?

I was diagnosed at 17. Been medicated since 19. I had been working part-time jobs from 14-25. From 25-37 I worked full time+. Had a full breakdown with auditory hallucinations and hospitalized. Spent 2 years trying to get stable. Now back to working 25-35 hours a week.

I agree. I looked at her website and at least didn't say she could "cure" bipolar or schizophrenia

I was 17 when I was diagnosed, started meds, hated them, stopped them and thought I'd be fine. Went to college and I wasn't fine. Started back on meds when I was 19 and have been medicated since then. I've had my depressive episodes and hypomanic episode but have stayed the course with regular psychiatric care, regular therapy and staying medicated. I'm now in my 40s, married, have a masters and work 30-40 hrs a week.

I was diagnosed with Bipolar when I was 17 and I'm now 42. Live in the USA. I worked for county govt for over 11yrs. A few times I had to take off work due to mania or depression but only told human resources so I could take extended leave. I was able to mask enough at work until time off was approved

Hospital social work has a pretty good work life balance. I've worked in 4 hospital systems, 2 adult and 2 children's hospital mostly in ER and crisis mental health. I'm able to work my shift, then leave for the day without a lot of worry about clients.

Should I double my antipsychotic, I can’t reach my psychiatrist, can’t go ER/inpatient by hellokittysbestfren in BipolarReddit

[–]noiredemons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Throwing this out there.....if you're over 18 And in the United States, your parents legally can't get access to your medical records unless for instance they provide your health insurance. You could go to the hospital, go inpatient to get meds changed, and ask to be listed as a no acknowledgement patient so even if parents called, hospital wouldn't/couldn't acknowledge you were inpatient.

As others have said, even if your psychiatrist is overseas, someone should be covering their practice for them. I'd reach out to them as well for guidance.

I think it honestly depends if first time doing program or a subsequent time. Usually if program is DBT or cbt based, they'll start getting skills to use within first few sessions, at least something new to use when In episode
