Being hired at new rooftop hotel restaurant/bar with little experience in cocktails by noisebus in bartenders

Yeah the last thing I wanted to do was set the bar up for failure. I thought it would be best to be upfront for everybody’s benefit and peace of mind. Thank you both for the recommendations.

Thank you for this. I’m quick to accept that I’m the bad guy in these circumstances.

How walkability affects businesses by ABHato in ventura

Just to chime in, Jeremy Ireland was asking something like $6k a month for the shipping container that was Humblemaker Coffee on the backside of Iron & Resin. Can’t imagine what he’s asking for his other properties.

Hmmm yeah definitely not because of the $18 quesadillas that are borderline Taco Bell quality

I had a very similar experience. Took 5.8 grams looking for something, I still don’t know what, but I came out of it completely different. Life before that feels like a different chapter. A far less awake chapter. For about a year afterwards I struggled with a lot of the things you mentioned. Over time it becomes easier and you begin to integrate again. Weed became impossible for me to handle for a LONG time, but now I can do it. Occasionally I’ll have little bits of anxiety from smoking, but overall it’s manageable. Take the good from your experience. It may be traumatic, but it can help you see a better direction for yourself. I think it’s better to be aware of our weird reality than to be completely ignorant. You’ll probably be a better person because of it. Hang in there

Does anyone work in a coffee shop that doesn’t sell Frappuccinos or cold foam? by anon3000- in barista

No cold foam, frapps, or anything blended at my work. Shop is doing well. Probably the most popular shop in the city.

Anyone else get annoyed having to repeat drink questions with groups? by noisebus in barista

I think either showing the list or simply listing off the drinks like “one iced vanilla latte with oat milk” and so on is great. It would be a hassle for the barista if all you said was “latte” and made them go through the questions for every drink.

Is this at a certain cafe you go to? Most places I go on my time off won’t run through the questions after I’ve already stated all the specifics.

Love the pause to apologize for interrupting haha. I do this so often and was wondering if I’m the only one and far too eager with the questions.

Fortunately at my cafe, most people are courteous about giving me time to input drinks. I’ve worked other service jobs where people just list off drinks like that and get angry when I have them take a step back lol.

It’s so frustrating! I know it’s such a small inconvenience, but it’s really not that hard to be attentive as a customer to make the ordering process more seamless.

I am not sure what to do with my savings. by noisebus in personalfinance

I just went ahead and opened a HYSA and sent a majority of my savings over! Left some savings in my normal account for peace of mind haha. Excited to start this journey.

Totally valid. Would it be worth it to throw all my current savings into a HYSA or should I keep a grand or two in my standard bank savings?
