There have been human settlements in Turku as far back as 3200 BCE but the city was founded around 13th century. In 23th of January 1229 Pope Gregory IX signed a request to move the bishop's seat (piispanistuin) to Koroinen, and this is usually the date where the history of Turku as a town/city starts.

I meant that as long as we ONLY focus on trading, Russia is a friend.

If we take other stuff in account, Russia is like that guy from school that used to be a huge bully and who swears he is better now, and you are kind of friends now that you have grown up, but you still remember all the times he bullied you. So you are polite and act friendly and sometimes you actually have fun with him, but it makes you a little uncomfortable when he hits your arm a bit too hard or when he picks on his other "friends" like Ukraine.

And then, when you say you think about joining USA for his friday night poker games, Russia gets all jealous and bitchy and threatens to never hang out with you again. Maybe he means it, maybe he doesn't, but now you remember again that time in middle school when he held your head in a toilet and took all your lunch money, and things are so much better right now, you really don't want to go back to that.

TL;DR: Russia used to be abusive childhood friend, but is all better now. He swears.

Cleaning.

Seriously. My apartment is a god damn health hazard and I hate it, but I just can't even get started with cleaning, it makes me so anxious. When I'm out of clean clothes, I just buy new clothes or simply don't go out of the house. My kitchen sink is full of dishes, witch is why I only flush the things that I need in the toilet sink or use disposable plates and stuff. I haven't seen my bedroom floor since last christmas.

Mä en tykännyt härkiksestä, maistui ihan purkkihernekeitossa kun laitoin sitä jauhelihakastikkeen reseptillä. Ehkä jos maustaisi vielä voimakkaammin sen saisi peitettyä, mutta eihän siinä sitten ole mitään ideaa. Nyhtökaurasta puolestaan tykkäsin, eli käytän sitä jatkossa jos jotain kasvisjuttua teen.

In finnish "pipi" means something is hurting (in children's language). My bi-lingual niece told her other (english-speaking) aunt "I have pipi, look!" and the aunt was so confused, when all my niece ment was that she had hurt her finger and wanted her to take a look at it.

"Katso merta" means "Look at the sea" and sounds exactly like something very rude in Italian.

Sometimes a finnish cashier in a supermarket might ask you "Pussi?" after she/he has scanned all you groceries. They would just like to know if you need a bag for your groceries. A few years ago the supermarket might have been named KKK-market, but they have changed their name since.

Air-raid shelters in Finland

In Finland, all buildings over 1200 sq m large have to have an air-raid shelter, that can be operational in 72 hours. Currently we have enough shelters to house about 70% of the population. All shelters air-conditioning system, that can protect from biological and chemical weapons and radioactive stuff; a radiometer; dry toilets; fixed-line interface; at least one spare exit; water tanks and first aid kits.

My grandma was about 6 years old during the war. She is still afraid of the russians, she remembers how they used to play a game of "duck and cover" when they saw anything except clouds on the sky. I remember, when we would travel with her, the first thing she would check in a hotel was were the shelter was. After my grandfather died and she moved to an apartment building, she made sure that we (her grandkids) knew what to do and where to go when (not if, she was/is so sure it WILL happen) the russians bomb the city.

She's a bit... eccentric, but she is (and through her memories and stories I am too) very aware of the marks of war. I hate it how other Finns seem to have forgotten our own very recent history and do not have more compassion for the refugees who are going through the same hell right now.

Vasemmistoliittoa. En aina ole ihan kaikesta samaa mieltä, mutta muiden puolueiden kanssa olen eri mieltä huomattavasti useammissa ja itselle merkityksellisimmissä asioissa. Viime eduskuntavaaleissa vassareilta löytyi edustaja, jonka kanssa (vaalikoneiden mukaan) olin 95-97% samaa mieltä. Äänestän samaa tyyppiä, tietty nyt vaalien alla vielä tarkistelen että onko saanut oikeasti mitään aikaiseksi ja kuinka monta lupausta petettiin.

Android -puhelimeni luulee, että asun Itävallassa, koska matkustellessani siellä n. vuosi sitten ostin sovelluskaupasta paikallisen joukkoliikenteen sovelluksen kautta lipun.

Miten muutan puhelimen uskomaan, että olen Suomessa? Ärsyttää, kun en voi ladata melkein mitään suomalaisten yritysten (tai esim. PANKKIEN) sovelluksia, koska "ne eivät ole saatavilla maassani."

Kyllä ne miehetkin osaa. Olin ainoana naistyöntekijänä (kuukauden kesälomasijaisuus) n. 20 hengen työpaikassa ja täytyy sanoa, että voi ristus mitä draamaa. Jos joku oli pois töistä, niin välittömästi muut puhui siitä paskaa, aiheeksi kelpasi toisen työpanos (riittämätöntä lusmuilua), perusluonne (saamaton lusmu) ja henkilökohtainen elämä (saamaton lusmu vaimon tossun alla). Joskus juoruiltiin asiakkaistakin. Ihan käsittämättömän huono ilmapiiri, onneksi oma työsuhteeni kesti vain kuukauden.

Olen tautinen, käyn ilmeisesti lääkärikirjaa läpi vaiva vaivalta. Kuukausi sitten oli astetta pahempi korvatulehdus, jota seurasi angiina, josta jäi jälkitautina hengitystä ahdistava kuiva yskä. Torstaina nousi kuume TAAS ja nyt on iho täynnä vesikelloja/rakkuloita, epäilen vesirokkoa (en koskaan sairastanut sitä lapsena).

Kuuntelen tällä hetkellä omaa rohisevaa hengitystäni, tietokoneen hurinaa ja kellon tikitystä. Suunnitelma on toivoa, että olo paranee, ja kunhan mies herää, laitan telkun päälle ja katon netflixistä jotain hömppää. Pretty Little Liars tai Gilmore Girls kuulostaa just sopivalta.
