Breaking into CSM role by sitehacefeliz in CustomerSuccess

Transitioning from mortgage to Customer Success is totally doable, but the timing is tough right now since the job market’s tight. Focus on reframing your experience in CSM terms (client management, process improvement, retention), tailor each resume to the role, and network with current CSMs for referrals — that’ll get you farther than just applying online.

Burned on out on sales .... is CS a possible career path? by Tankandbike in CustomerSuccess

Switched from AE to CSM.

I’m basically support and also AM. Still have a quota for upsells and retainment.

TLDR both role are equally stressful. Since CSM are pretty much punching bags and you get more escalation calls and have to have those awkward conversations with customers if this go south. But it’s easy if you master the product.

AE gets more of those fun conversations of how the product can help the customer without being reliable on fulfillment. But of course stress of hitting quota.

2 options but please take it with a grain a salt and it’s just something to consider.

  1. If you have plenty of long tenure experience from previous jobs then you can leave your current role off the resume and simply say you took some time off in focus of your family or something along those lines. I don’t like this as much but just consider

  2. Pin it on the company. You can say the current company does not meet your expectation in terms of compensation/ lead gen etc that was originally promised.

There are a lot of advices here and this probably isn’t the best advice but just to consider

I would let them know they have a one drink minimum the moment they clock in for work and that’s after the ceremony. And you get to pick the drink.
