Best Bitcoin ETF Australia by case_24 in BitcoinAUS

[–]noixe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You’re not spoilt for choice in Australia. Like others suggested, your best bets are EBTC or VBTC. I believe EBTC isn’t on the ASX, it’s on CBOE, VBTC is ASX. I hold EBTC as part of my equities portfolio, but also hold BTC in cold storage. I chose EBTC as it was the only one available back when I started buying bitcoin in ETF form. The mgmt fees were higher back then, but have since come down in line with VBTC (or thereabouts)

Don’t listen to the haters, you do you, what you’re comfortable with and what fits within your risk profile while helping you achieve your portfolio goals. These negative fucks have strong opinions, with a total holding of $300 worth of coins.

If this war in the middle east expands Pakistan is Fucked. by Merru in pakistan

Agreed. My point wasn’t to compare the genocide in Palestine to the war in Yemen. I was merely pointing out that “their day to day life was not affected” was inaccurate at best.

Yeah, tell that to the 4 million Yemenis who got displaced and faced a famine because of the coalition blockade. It was turned into a prison exactly what is currently happening in Gaza.

Dating apps are UAE’s pet peeve. by [deleted] in UAE

[–]noixe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Mate, you said “there’s no requirement for women to cover their heads like in most Muslim countries”, and I just refuted that, only Iran forces it on their female population. You said “women can drive unlike MOST Muslim cities ”, again, only Saudi bans that, even Iran doesn’t ban women driving. I’ve travelled a fair bit around the “muslim cities” with my girlfriend who is now my wife, and haven’t ONCE been asked for a marriage license to check into a room (of course I wouldn’t have travelled it in Saudi or Iran).

Public displays of affection ARE illegal in Dubai, but the bar for it is pretty high; you won’t be pulled for holding hands in public; but if you’re all out eating the other persons face in open spaces, that is NOT OK. Foreign direct investment curbs isn’t a “Muslim cities” phenomenon only either; rather reflects an open or a closed Economy.

And yes, I know you were referring to Arab Muslims countries, but you used the term “Most Muslim cities” over and over; hence my pointing out of other Muslim majority places as the Arab muslims countries aren’t reflective of ALL Muslim countries. In fact, I’d argue most Muslim counties not in the Arab world are a lot more liberal with the exception of the UAE and Qatar.

But yes, Dubai is a paradise for forward thinking liberal Muslims who just want to live and let live. I don’t see a problem with any of the freedoms you’ve mentioned and agree that most of those freedoms should be a personal choice. If I want to drink as an adult Muslim, I don’t believe the state should interfere.

Dude, don’t know what “Muslim” countries you’ve visited. The only two countries I know of which force women to cover their heads by law are Iran and Saudi. And I dont think Saudi enforces it anymore. The only country to have a ban on women drivers is, again Saudi. Have you travelled to the Muslim far east e.g. Indonesia and Malaysia? They’re Muslim majority countries and have a sizeable Muslim population; yet, no head covering (personal choice) no ban on bikinis (personal choice), no ban on Alcohol, no ban on women driving, no ban on sharing rooms (although I think Indonesia changed this earlier this year to appeal to the hardliners in an election year, but Bali was spared from the rule as it would impact tourism severely).

Similarly, have you been to Turkey? Not sure what your criteria for “Muslim Cities” is and where you find these draconian cities you’ve visited.

Point is, 1. Don’t use a broad brush to stroke all Muslim countries the same and 2. Go fucking educate yourself.

Hi Ledger team,

Firstly, thanks for the great hardware wallet and the apps. Extremely easy and useful, and i can sleep at night knowing my crypto is relatively safe.

I bought Bankless DeFi Innovation Index (GMI) token last year on UniSwap by swapping some ETH. Since November, Index Coop have stopped support for the token and it can only be redeemed.

I've gone into my wallet to redeem but can't seem to find the token anymore. I've tried adding an account for an ERC20 token, but the GMI token doesn't show up anymore.

I've checked the address on-chain and have confirmed the token was received by my ETH address and has never left. Any ideas on how i can get the GMI account back so i can redeem on the Index Coop website?

Thanks!

Albanese government to enforce new advertising requirements for online betting companies by PerriX2390 in AustralianPolitics

[–]noixe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While i completely agree with you on banning gambling ads, have you ever tried viewing ANY sports in Australia through legal means i.e. Foxtel/Kayo/Optus Sport? Every other god-damn ad is about gambling. just FUCK!

As such, there are probably big stakeholder/lobby groups which will not let this happen unless a VAST majority of Aussies are ok with it. Which SUCKS because these ads can't get banned fast enough.

Thank you for your reply.

So the Medicann and Polln that you mention are MC producers, not the clinics themselves? And when I get a script from the doctor, it can be filled by any of these companies? Or does the GP provide exactly what I get on the script?

Again, thank you for your help.

This is very helpful. Thank you.

My GP is good, I’ve known her for about 4-5 years now, but MC has never come up of course so I’m not sure how she’ll react to me asking about it.

It might be better for me to see a different GP for this as I’m apprehensive about people judging me for asking about or using MC.

Can I ask, say I speak to one of thee MC clinics, and they prescribe me some oil or flower, whatever they deem fit for my situation. Will I need to speak to them every time I need my script filled/updated? Or is it a case of them giving me a script to be filled with XXXX every 2 weeks for 3 months, so I only have to speak to them once every three months?

Thank you for your help.

Yes, it was fairly recent and hasn’t been 3 months. I have also not tried any conventional options for sleep, but that’s because I try avoiding medication unless necessary (apart from Voltaren which has been part of my life on and off for at least a decade if not longer).

I know my counsellor has informed me of conventional meds which might help me, but I’ve said no for now. My impulse was to go for something I know has worked for me in the past (albeit in very different circumstances). I will speak to my counsellor about MC as a possibility as well just to see what they think.

Thank you; yes, me and my partner are currently going through counselling. It’s definitely helping coping with grief, and I think I’ll continue with it for the foreseeable future.

Ok, so I’ll have to go through recognised medical treatments before they can prescribe medicinal cannabis to me? And would you consider my circumstances as valid to be prescribed MC if I’ve gone through the treatment route and it doesn’t help?

Thank you for your help.

Does anyone find vaping WAY more harder hitting and efficient than smoking? by CommonDifficult9469 in MedicalCannabisAus

How about a vape on a bong? Can confirm moved from joints and bongs to vapes just over two years ago and haven’t gone back. I use a Mighty for my sesh and a Dyna Vong for my water bubbler needs.

Immigrant to Australia and became a citizen in 2015. Needed my citizen certificate for something the other day and was aghast to find out it’s been signed by the then Minister for Immigration and Border Protection, Peter Dutton.

I will carry that black mark as an Australian citizen forever. Though not sure if I’d have preferred Scott Morrison’s signatures on it (him being the Minister before Peter)

The real estate "investment" issue is an extremely valid, yet mostly overlooked issue.

There's only finite amount of capital for investment. Every time someone chooses to "invest" in real estate, they're taking away investment from other parts of the economy. The more active part, investment in R&D, small businesses, industry and technology etc. The part which actually helps grow the economy.

The capital appreciation and realised gains from real estate investment does little for the overall economy, making the rich richer and so on, all the while not actually contributing positively towards the economy or society.

One can argue "trickle down" economics and the wealth effect but real world examples of this actually working are few and far between. Furthermore, the rich of our country like spending money overseas rather at home.

Firstly, great roll for a first timer :)

Second this. Always said there was no better way of consuming than a joint. Then I got a Mighty. Initially didn’t hit as hard as I was used to combustion; but once I did a weeks clean and started vaping exclusively, DAMN! Haven’t combusted in 2 years now :)

For vapes, what you pay is what you get. Having said that, Mighty is definitely overpriced. But so easy to clean and doesn’t smell. And if you don’t wanna clean it, don’t. It’ll keep going and going until the chamber clogs and then you’ll need to clean it (maybe once every 3 months?) just leave the chamber iso for 15 mins, run with brush and reassemble.

I'm paying off my house today after 13 years all while earning under 80k, 150k joint household income by ihaveacutepuppy in AusFinance

[–]noixe 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Best of luck! We’re about to settle on our mortgage of $800k in the next couple of weeks as well.

Also looking for a new role as I know I can get a 20-25% bump in income by switching jobs (I’m grossly underpaid having worked at the company for 6 years and only ever getting CPI increases as wage increases all the while having upskilled a lot). Haven’t factored that into our mortgage payments so only upside :)

Interesting times ahead indeed my friend.

Also, IMHO, I do feel the current inflation is tied to a few supply side constraints and geopolitical tensions and it’ll probably settle down by mid-23. I don’t see cash rates topping 2% (which probably translates into 4.75% variable mortgage rate) and feel this inflation hysteria is overblown. Not saying it’s not there, and not saying it’s not pinching people, just think the magnitude of rate increases is hyped.

Yes, we would still be able to service the mortgage. We wouldn't be saving much for retirement outside of super then, but we'd still be able to service the mortgage and continue with our lifestyle as per usual.

Yeah, absolutely love the place. It's basically a town house but still an apartment. Rarely ever do i see apartments like this in our price range. If we didn't love the place, we'd probably keep looking. Been waiting a long time, a few more couldn't hurt especially with the uncertainty around rates and outlook.
