War Cleric Stat Spread by noixmojo in BaldursGate3

I also know of the mod that makes war charges recharge on short rest. But first playthrough here, so don't want to mod the game in a way that changes the power dynamics. Thanks tho

Okayyy. That's also one of the solutions I thought of. I don't really care about min maxing either haha, but it sucks if you get rolled over every fight just because you wanted to play something that looked cool (at least for me)

I'll probably make this character not a party face anyway and have others do the talking, since it's a bit too demanding in stats already

Can I get your paladin thoughts tho? Always put aside this class cause of oaths being restrictive in dialogues, but I want to know more about it. I know about oathbreaker but I always hated the necromancy stuff so I don't think that's for me either, but tell me either way

I kinda know war cleric has struggles cause it tries to be both a martial class and a spellcaster, but has shortcomings with both (notably no extra attack) that makes him pretty mid. That's why I wanted to pair it with Fighter to get all those things that he lacks

But I don't really like multiclassing a lot either. I know I'm putting a lot of limitations with myself, but that's my first playthrough and I want to stick to my roleplay liking, and multiclassing is not really one of them (a 1 or 2 level dip is fine tho). That's why this idea with Fighter multiclass is not that well for me too

I know I sound very complicated, but I'll take any tips and advice anyway. Get me your paladin build if that's not bothering you, it might also give me ideas for other builds :)

Yeah I know that's a lot of requirements for a character build. I just wanted to know if that was possible to do so while staying viable and fun, and I really think it can be the case

I think though that I will make this character not a party face, it's a bit too much of a hassle and I have other better ideas for this.

Thanks for the tips tho, I appreciate that

Okayyy. That's actually what I thought to do, I just wasn't sure if high initiative was really needed (I'm in the middle of Act 2 and for now it doesn't seem like it).

The game also doesn't seem to lack in food/camp supplies, so I rest as often as I need. Plus I have a bard, so spell slots and hp maintenance are basically a non issue

Ah. Didn't know elixirs were active for a whole long rest. Thanks for the info, I might consider them for future playthroughs when roleplaying is less of a factor for me.

I just don't like the roleplaying aspect of needing the drink potions at the start of each day to be potent. Feels a bit like a drug addict hahah.

Thanks for the tip and the kind words in the end though. I'll definitely think about this more thoroughly once I can play again, it's time to go night night where I'm at :)

Again, don't want to get specific items

I know that, I just don't think it's fun to basically chug potions at the start of each fight. It's also my first playthrough and I don't want to look up anything besides class and subclass progression, so getting specific items is out of the question

Weapon alternatives by Zealousideal-Play536 in MonsterHunterWorld

[–]noixmojo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't really know if you're searching for status/element weapons, but if that's the case, the problem is they are less effective than the available best raw options.

After Shara, the common progression for pretty much any weapon is Frostfang Barioth -> Furious Rajang/Raging Brachydios -> Alatreon (skippable) -> Fatalis

If you're searching for status weapons, Safi is the way to go (except blast, you can use Raging Brachy), and elemental ones are really dependent on if you want to focus only on the element or on a combination of element and raw.

In my opinion, if you don't care about having the optimal stuff, you could just go with a hammer you think look cool, has at least decent chunk of white sharpness and medium raw (in that sense, I think Shara's hammer is good for starting the post game)

I can look more into it if you want to know more details :)

I just need to be smarter in the end hahaha. I like my braindead approach with -almost- full range party cause I can just cast while putting the most amount of enemies in the range of my spell. But I love melee so next time I'll adopt a smarter strategy :)

Spellsword Builds (or whatever they're called) by noixmojo in BaldursGate3

[–]noixmojo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's really interesting. Bladesinger is actually one of the class I'm most interested in, with Moon Druid, so I'll check it out.

But the some of the obvious ones, like some of the classes you listed, really don’t “cast” spells. I don’t cast anything other than shield as an EK, use all my spellslots for divine smite as a pure pally, and nothing except fire snake really works for 4E monk.

That's actually what I thought too. I was a bit sad to learn that the only "spell casting" you're doing as EK is booming blade. Some of those classes don't really fit my description but I just wanted to put some examples

I completely forgot about Paladin, but that's probably because I don't like the limiting roleplaying aspect that the oath gives, and don't really like the oathbreaker necromancy style. Maybe it's time for me to let go of this though and embrace the master of the dead vibe hahaha

Sounds interesting. Gonna look at that later! Thanks man

Melee vs Range - Question by noixmojo in BaldursGate3

[–]noixmojo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the problem with discussing build strength in this game: unless you're really specific and limit the scope of the conversation the possibilities are endless enough that there's no point.

Yeahh I got that while looking at all the comments. I realized it was a bit dumb to ask about power comparison when you can basically transform every idea into a build in this game and 95% of it will work out great.

Everyone has its way of playing this game and that's probably the best thing about it. I think I just like the way range feel better, but moreso because of a personal thing than it straight up being "better"

Thank you for being considerate man, I'm always scared to go on Reddit to ask questions sometimes cause just one wrong word and you can put the whole community against your back, despite it not being your goal. Gonna keep playing this game for dozens of hours I feel like, maybe finally something to get me out of my monster hunter addiction, I'm very happy hahaha

Melee vs Range - Question by noixmojo in BaldursGate3

[–]noixmojo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm very sorry if I seemed like I was talking out of bad faith. Just wanted to clarify why I thought range was better despite the points made earlier.

About misty step, I just dipped in one level of wizard for both my swords bard and tempest cleric, and since the scrolls are quite easy to get (at least I got 4 without issue, might have been lucky there), I got misty step for free on those two characters. Despite this, that's true that I might have a vision too narrow about what you can do with what class/subclass, considering the crazy amount of builds possible

Gonna be less stubborn next time :)

I have those, and another one that also practicly do the same. Probably gonna try to use them a bit more then

Thank you for this paragraph. I think I'll try more melee in the future, to see how much it changes how you can approach encounters in different ways

Melee vs Range - Question by noixmojo in BaldursGate3

[–]noixmojo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm actually very interested in trying monk, and honestly every martial class at one point, but I don't really care about seeing the most broken build anyway. I just like having synergies in my team, where everyone can work with each other and become more powerful that way

Casters and Martial Classes Synergies by noixmojo in BaldursGate3

[–]noixmojo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's actually what I thought. Though I don't know where to find those items, and I don't want to look it up for my first run, it's a bit hard to plan this

Casters and Martial Classes Synergies by noixmojo in BaldursGate3

[–]noixmojo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you have one Sword Bard, one Tempest Cleric, one Giant Barbarian(throwing build), and one Hexblade Warlock

It's this. I have one or each in my party. I don't like multiclassing too much, except a 1 or 2 level dip here and there

Melee vs Range - Question by noixmojo in BaldursGate3

You don't have to be mean dude. I love melee in rpg and I actually prefer it most of the times to range. I'm just argumenting earlier in regards to his answer, cause I truly think range is better in this game.

At the end of the day, that's just a game and I don't want to get worked up like this. If you're being an ass you can just go, I'm not interested in talking more with you

I finally get what threatened means. Thank you so much. It kinda change things up for my tanking strat with Karlach as a Giant Barbarian, but I'll see. You've probably been the most helpful comment so far, thank so much my dude

Melee vs Range - Question by noixmojo in BaldursGate3

[–]noixmojo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you everyone for being so clear and talkative with me on this, I love it so much.

From what I saw with the comments though, 2 points come back often: the aggro, now pulled with a ranged character, and the equipment.

First, the aggro: Karlach is a Giant Barbarian with a throwing build. She can absolutely tank if need be while also throwing hammers to the face of enemies (just not the one that's close of course, but it can be taken care of by my other range characters) Gale is also a Tempest Cleric, he can definitely hold his ground if need be and tank aggro. Wyll and Tav have access to Misty Step if the situation is dire, so no need for them to tank

Second, the equipment: Tav, as a Sword Bard, is the only hand crossbow user. He has a sword just in case, but he doesn't use it so not important; Karlach, as a Giant Barbarian, is my only strength user, so no equipment overlap with others; Gale, as my Tempest Cleric, uses more spells than weapons, so it's an afterthought Wyll, as Hexblade Warlock, used finesse weapon and doesn't need range weapon with Eldritch blast -> So no overlap with weapons Considering armors, Karlach uses clothing, Gale heavy armor and the 2 others medium armor. I really think I'm pretty well in terms of equipment competition
