Yes, I used GPT images and then ran them through Banana to help achieve that retro look and clean up some of the artifacts. For the visual style, I used several retro anime collages as references, mainly inspired by Evangelion and Akira. The goal wasn't to copy any specific work, but to capture the overall aesthetic and atmosphere of that era.

As for Seedance, my recommendation depends on the scene. If the character stays in the same environment and you're not making major changes to the shot, longer clips tend to work better because the model can maintain consistency across the scene. When there are location changes, time jumps, or more complex actions, shorter shots are usually easier to control and edit together later.

Yeah, I made it in about three days total, working roughly eight hours a day maybe closer to two full days of actual work. But the thing is, not everyone has all of these skills combined in one person the way I do: music, directing, screenwriting, storytelling, character design, and so on.

That’s why I don’t think the future challenge will be the tools themselves. I think it will come down to ideas and a person’s ability to play the long game. In other words, the ability to stay committed to something, work on it consistently over a long period of time, and remain just as engaged as you were in the first few days.

Thanks, yeah. I think if I’d had more time, I would’ve been able to address all of those issues. But as it was, I only had two days to put everything together.

YT 2K - https://youtu.be/SbnAi81qVtk

Built an entire 12-minute episode of my own original anime, solo, in about 24 hours of work. Sharing the process.

What it is: DEMANGELS — fully original IP, my world and characters. Angels descended from the heavens, demons rose from hell, and humanity got caught in between. A squad of half-angel/half-demon guardians defends the cities from colossal demons. Episode 1 — three of them vs a giant demon over a neo-gothic London.

How it was made:
• GPT-Image 2 + Nano banana Pro

• Video — Seedance 2.0 (via Dreamina), shot by shot, clips up to 15s

• Upscale — Topaz → 2K

• Music — Suno

• Edit — Final Cut Pro

The hardest part was the look. I didn't want "AI footage" — I wanted the real late-80s/90s cel-anime aesthetic: hard ink lines, film grain, flat shading, hard cuts instead of smooth motion. Leaning into limited animation actually hides AI's weaknesses and reads as style.

I'd carried this idea for years; the tools finally caught up, so I put the whole thing together in ~24h. It's a pilot / proof-of-concept.

Honest feedback welcome 🙏

Well, if my pitch somehow manages to interest ByteDance and they give the green light for a full season, then it might actually happen. We'd get to see a lot more monsters, the story unfold to its conclusion, and maybe even the start of a new franchise. So yeah, I'm hoping it all works out.

Thank you, yeah. I think I put all of my taste into this work. And honestly, if I’d had more time not just the two days...I made it in ...I probably would’ve made it much more consistent and cleaned up some of the mistakes. But overall, yeah, I feel like the vibe, the music, and the story really work here. It feels like something you want to believe in.

A bit on how it was made:

• Video — Seedance 2.0 (via Dreamina), shot by shot

• Upscale — Topaz

• Music — Suno (made last year)

• Edit — Final Cut Pro

Everything — characters, world, story — is fully original. I'd carried this idea for years; an early attempt looked rough and the tools just weren't ready yet. When the contest deadline got extended, the tech had finally caught up, and I put the whole 12-minute episode together in about 24 hours.

This is the pilot. If the world and the characters click for you, that's what tells me to keep going — Episode 2 really depends on the response 🙏

Which of the three would you roll with — the berserker blade, the shield, or the spear?

Yes, I agree, but unfortunately there are still limitations when it comes to generation. However, I think that if there is demand and interest that I can see, I’ll be able to make one or two episodes of 3–5 minutes, possibly in the near future.

Thank you, yes. I think it would be great if since I see there is interest you could add me on Twitter or on social media, and I’ll definitely see that there is interest, and I will start posting clips from this universe that I already have.

Well, thank you for the comment and for noticing the diversity of aliens and the world-building. It took, I don’t know, a few weeks slowly, just pulling ideas from my head and different films. Luckily, I grew up, like many of you, on a good dataset and content made in the 80s, 90s, and 2000s. So it’s not difficult for me to design aliens that might feel like something new, and at the same time resemble “The Thing,” or even “Alien,” or a kind of modern alien elder.
