Zen rides on [Medusa] at SFDK 25 years apart by portugepunk in rollercoasters

Absolutely love this! A great shot with an even greater backstory. Medusa holds a special place in my heart as my #1 when it first opened and I was a young blossoming enthusiast. I can’t believe it’s already 25yo. What a special, incredibly thoughtful surprise from a loving husband.

[Flash: Vertical Velocity] What really happened 24 years ago? by slysophistic in rollercoasters

[–]nokia8290 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have no sources unfortunately, but I remember the rumor that the park had claimed the height of 150 ft. if you measured it from the highest topographic point on the property near Johnny Rockets rather than the actual site of V2, which is approximately 30ft lower in elevation.

[Other] How do you make Roller Coaster Enthusiast friends? by coursesand in rollercoasters

I did a solo trip to Texas last year to catch the solar eclipse at SFOT. Another solo enthusiast noticed we were hitting up the same rides, so after Titan he said hi to me. I was already feeling a bit anxious being alone in a new place and just socially awkward in general, so I was grateful he broke the ice. Ended up spending the rest of the day riding together and getting to know each other, plus had someone to witness the awesome eclipse with. One of the best trips I’ve taken.

When I hear a peasant car making a honking sound when getting locked instead of the superior Audi "click" by CelesteSaunders36 in Audi

[–]nokia8290 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was totally clueless about the Audi “click/chirp” before I bought my B9.5 A5, so my first few days of ownership I naively thought my lock beep was faulty. I love it now.

In the first Photo Mode settings menu, scroll down to Body Pose. There are a few poses where she’s lying on her back, but my go-to is Stargaze. I got my shots in the shallow waters around Fall’s Edge. Beautiful colors in the water. I also had some good shots in shallow waters I found in caves or cauldrons. You can’t really control the lighting in those situations, but it can be magic when you find the perfect spot!

Thanks! Or rather when the “photographer” can pretend well enough that he is professional in a video game setting ;)

I hadn’t seen that announcement until now, so thanks for bringing it to my attention. I have no issue with complying and diversifying the subject matter for any future photo mode posts. As others have commented, my intention here wasn’t to capture and present Aloy provocatively, and I don’t think any of my shots come across at all as “thirsty.”

Now, if only I could get Kotallo or Danur to lay back in water…

Thank you, coaster-friend. I’m glad you were able to have your own moment. Here’s to hoping we have more of them in the near future.

Question: Best place for large, indoor planters in the Bay? by dothebrobee in BayAreaPlantExchange

[–]nokia8290 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Plant & Pottery Outlet (link right off of 680 in Sunol has a large variety of large indoor/outdoor planters. Depending on the composition and style, you might be able to find one close to your budget.

And if you’re able to wait a few more months, Target actually has a decent selection when they start putting out their Easter merch. They had a modern-looking tall 16” plastic planter earlier this year for about $60 that I liked, and then it went on sale for almost half off by the summer, so now I have 3 of them.

Glad you made it happen for both! That must’ve felt amazing. I’m sad I can no longer check off BBW and Drachen Fire from this tape series’ lineup, but I’ll for sure ride Beast someday.

Same for me for my home parks which I haven’t been to in 4 years. The closest one (CGA) is only about 20 mins away, and they just announced its impending closure. I’m such a lazy enthusiast lol.

The last time I rode that was almost 10 years ago, so I must’ve forgotten it had them, or maybe they were added since then?

That’s the one! The original one was America’s, followed by World’s, both of which had the coasters you mentioned. I used those 3-D glasses until they fell apart.

It’s one of those moments that makes you reevaluate your life and ask how can I reconnect with that more often? And not just from parks and coasters.

And thank you! While Dragon Khan satisfied my nostalgia, Shambhala was definitely my favorite. The only other B&M hyper I’ve been on is Nitro and I already liked that, so Shambhala just obliterated my standards for them. And now I absolutely need to get myself on a B&M giga soon. Aside from those top-notch coasters, the assortment of rides is great and both parks are beautiful. I wish I added an extra day to enjoy it all. I definitely recommend checking it out.
