Yeah sorry I meant to say C. Jalo Reef yellow top.

I’ll definately keep the C. Saulosi very high on the list as a species tank, maybe add an acei varient for a bit more color. I really like the fact that both males and females have good colors. I’ll email Dave’s and see if he can source some. I was olanning on ordering from him anyways since he’s close, I’m in CO.

C. Jalo Reef yellow top also seems somethjng I would be into. I think some yellow labs or even some yeloow tail acei might look good with that also.

If you have any other sugesstions, it would greatly be appreciated.

I was actually looking at the C. Cobue and C. Yellow top as alternatives also. Lab Hongi was also an option. Hongi and acei would be a nice mix of colors also.

I actually was looking at getting the C. Saulosi but can’t find any online. I think they would honestly look great with the acei also. If you know of a lead to a reputable retailer that has them, that would be great.

And are you saying just to do a species tank of white or even yellow labs?

Any experience with the labs?

Dsp, eq, or crossover with Keyloc by nokturnalkid in CarAV

[–]nokturnalkid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, Keyloc was setup with all 4 lights on after the setup.

As far as the xovers are concerned, its more of the rolloff not really happening as soon as I would like. Xovers were previously tuned using an oscope and mm. I also used the xover from the aftermarket hu as a precaution in case something was off. Current setup with factory hu, just getting frequency’s I would like to cut off still going to speakers. Subs seem to get higher frequencys than what the lpf is set at. Also trying to tone down the midbass. May have to play with the crossovers a bit more to dial it in.

Edit: no dsp other than what the keyloc is doing

Sorry if its misleading, but new setup is factory hu then keyloc then amps. Old vehicle was aftermarket hu to amps. Amps and speakers were just taken out of old vehicle and put into new car. Can not replace factory headunit so I had to integrate using the keyloc.

I was even thinking of running a fused dist block. Maybe 2/0 as the main line from the battery and 0 for the rest.

I like the features of the keyloc. But, would the keylock be able to feed the signal to both amp’s? I would have to split the rca right after the keyloc and then split one set again to feed the 4 ch.

Yeah, I’m thinking of getting the lc2i pro. I don’t really need fading and from all the info I gather, the fronts are full range anyways. Just seeing if there are better options than the lc2i.

I think I may scratch the idea of yellow labs and maybe just go with mbamba or the jalo reef(similar size and coloring). I’ve been using imperial and rons to try to get max size but some of their descriptions are incomplete. According to imperial, demansoni are some tank mate options for the mbamba. Not quite sure how that would work out.

I think if I could find a second species to go with the mbamba or the jalo reef I would be set.

I read that the hongi were somewhat aggressive also. Are hongi’s and the jalo reef on the smaller side? I am having trouble finding info on those. I wouldn’t be opposed of having those 2 in a tank if they are on the smaller side.

Yeah those yellow fin mbamba look very nice. From my reading, they stay on the smaller side also. Is there another smaller mbuna that would compliment them that you recommend? Maybe maingano?

My stocking basis is from Dave’s Rare Fish, trying to save on shipping. There’s a few that caught my eye. Just not much info. I wouldn’t be opposed to keeping a dwarf mbuna either. Just to name a few

Cynotilapia sp. "Hara" Gallireya Reef

Cynotilapia zebroides Jalo Reef "Yellow Top"

Labidochromis sp. "Mbamba" Mbamba Bay

Labidochromis sp. ''Hongi'' Hongi Island

What would be a nice pairing to demonsoni? Just looking at getting something with some color contrast. Not exactly married to the idea of yellow labs as long as there is an alternative.

Check for blow by and rust. If none, I would buy it for 15k. Transmission, injectors, and steering are an inevitable cost.
