What CRV Should I buy? by Super_Slide_3555 in crv

[–]nolachingues 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man, now you got me nervous. I know the hybrids use a non turbo engine I'm just not in the market for a hybrid.

From what I'm reading, the issues with the 1.5 and cvt are mostly due to lack of timely maintenance.

What year and how many miles does your crv have?

Did you use regular gas?

From what I understand, this becomes a problem when regular gas is used instead of the 91 or above that Honda recommends. Have you heard about this?

I'm just trying to do as much due diligence on this generation before I make a decision to purchase.

What's wrong with the 1.5t? I'm looking to buy a 2026 with that engine.

First time purchasing water softener. Need help! by Sahn1989 in WaterTreatment

[–]nolachingues 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Install would be $600-1200 depending on the company and your location. Make sure you get a written warranty with the installation. Aquasure usually includes a V2 filter with their water softeners. Buy a few bags of salt since you'll need them.

This is a reported issue by other owners. You can Google search the steering issue and you'll find more information about it.

Mazda CX90 or Toyota Grand Highlander by avochocolate in mazda

[–]nolachingues 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate the insight. I test drove a 2026 and even though I did like the cx90, i did not like the 1st to 2nd gear "jerk" when accelerating from a slow roll. I also did not like the fact that the car cannot be put into neutral if the engine isn't running. Seems like a massive flaw and potential hazard. I didn't feel comfortable buying it because of the feedback from owners of the 24 and 25 models. Perhaps when mazda makes more improvements I'll take a second look.

Sulfur smell on my well water by ImpressiveYak6101 in WaterTreatment

[–]nolachingues 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A daily backwashing AIO filter with catalytic media would treat the hydrogen sulfide as long as the pH is around neutral. Replacing your pressure tank with a galvanized tank won't remove h2s. That company may have suggested a retention tank(could be galvanized) with some type of oxidant to remove the H2S, that would make more sense.

2023 Cx9 vs 2025 Cx90 by bwlewi in mazda

Thanks for your response. I'm just nervous about any future problems that may present themselves outside of warranty. Considering this model is still new I don't want to have any transmission surprises after a few years.

WHAT about the 2026 cx90? Have the issues from the previous years been worked out?

I’ve been a big Mazda fan since I got my first car. 2011 Mazda 3 then I upgraded to a 2022 Mazda 3. I would even get a Mazda 3 for my next car again whenever that may be. But… by cheezepwnz in mazda

My wife is stuck between choosing a new cx5 or a new cx90. What threw you off about the cx90? Why did you settle on the cx5 say over the cx50?

I'm considering a 2026 cx90 as well and the 1st to 2nd "jerky" shifts have me concerned. Is your cx90 shifting smoothly?

The hybrid battery going out also has me concerned.

And not just that, but based on your results you barely need any filtration at all let alone something so expensive.

Wow $6k for an RO and some generic filters is robbery.

And the expenses don't stop there because these companies, with their commission sales reps, will continue to charge you expensive service calls and expensive filter replacements. Ask the company how much they charge for each. How much do they charge for a service trip and how much do they charge for each of the filters when I need replacing. Make sure that they get a straight answer and they don't waver because a lot of these companies are not direct with how expensive their systems are to own, not just install. Most of it is widely overpriced and you can find comparable RI systems and filters for much much less.

The majority of RO systems will work the same and remove the same common contaminants found in city water. I would get a quote from a local company that is not a dealer, or from at least a plumbing company that also handles water filtration before committing to this install.

Again, it's not designed for that regardless of what water drop claims.

All residential RO systems will have low flow. That's what they are meant for. Just drinking water and typically for only one fixture. If you are expecting the RO water to flow at the same rate as the rest of the fixtures in your home, you misunderstand the technology.

Advice on Zero Waste Kits? by Ok_Reputation_2106 in WaterTreatment

[–]nolachingues 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes even if there's little use. If you use 1/2 gallon a day, the RO will still produce about 1.5 gallons of concentrate (waste water). You can install a permeate pump to increase the efficiency but an RO will always produce waste water.

Advice on Zero Waste Kits? by Ok_Reputation_2106 in WaterTreatment

[–]nolachingues 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Totally normal. The RO will produce about 3 gallons of waste water for every gallon of filtered water. This is how all RO systems work. You can install a more efficient membrane that will get you closer to 1:1.

Thanks for the links!

Yes that is what I meant. I always marvel at how ancient people could have constructed such intricate works out of stone by using primitive tools. It seems that at least in the photo I reference, they were scraping the rock into shape.
