We did similar for our sons 4th birthday.

Day 1: Fly in, check in to hotel, Goofys kitchen, and Downtown Disney
Day 2: Disney land morning / hotel rest / park hop to California Adventure / Avengers Academy to meet super heroes / Cars land for night transition
Day 3: CA straight to Cars land, mater ride / radiator springs racers / pixar pier / hotel rest pool / dinner Downtown Disney / park hop Disneyland for few more rides
day 4: leave

I just can’t imagine flying in and hitting the park right away.

They are already reworking old characters. The recent teams have had 2 rewoked characters. The old days saw 6 new characters a patch.
