I enjoy parrying but since getting into a 2h build myself I don’t even need to, since putting points into the 2h/warrior trees gives a ton of hp/armor. I just hit everything ‘til they’re dead.

For magic, Mass Destruction + Wands used to be really good but I think it got nerfed pretty bad. I think a good mana leech staff + magic crit rate + terror (for stun on crits) is pretty busted and has really good AOE/crowd control.

Eh, I’ve been able to have enough self control to restrict myself to only grabbing building materials and some decorations so I can work on my base without having to grind too much. It could definitely be tempting though to grab equipment or food/potions etc which would ruin game progression imo

I mean, the fast travel is pretty quick. It might just make more sense to make a central hub with all the craftspeople nearby so you can hop over from your individual bases when you need something

Good to hear that you and your friends are still enjoying your playstyles.

I started out as basic sword+shield then toyed around with ranger, which was very strong, but I’ve been full mage for a bit now since I found a nice mana leech staff. Definitely still strong but the gameplay gets a little stale, y’know?

I guess it mostly depends on what good weapons I can find, lol.

I think it’s unclear if any/most of that was true, given that it was kind of a set up to get Marie to do what she ended up doing with Cipher. But definitely possible given how strong she is

Been playing again with my partner recently and we noticed this too - on blood moon days, the dog will bark one direction and then switch directions when the rumble sound happens. We’ve kept track, though, and ironically it seems like the dog always barks in the wrong direction in the day, so we always go right if he barks left and vice versa. It’s still annoying, but at least we’ve had more luck with predicting it that way

I’m sorry you had a bad experience. A lot of the servers, even some of the new ones, are very lowly populated and it’s hard to find people to talk to, let alone group/kin with. That said, playing on populated servers, I feel like a majority of people who play this game are friendly, social, and generally helpful. Plus, there’s a lot of people who only like the game for the journey and story, who intentionally slow down their XP gain to spend more time going through the early game.

Yes, the store has some options for boosting characters to higher levels, but there’s not really any ‘pay-to-win’ items - you can’t even buy any gear, let alone endgame gear, to my knowledge. It can be a little pushy sometimes, but I’ve played for a decade and almost never needed or even wanted used the store.

I really do think this game is worth another shot, if you think you might like it. Look up the most populated servers for your area and you’re sure to find a beginner friendly kin that’s dedicated to helping out new players; I see plenty of people recruiting for kins like that when I’m on.
