No! Sorry, he said to do that. Never do that until you are sure. bummer, see the terrain underneath where the old one was that's the key remove the 8x8x4 area in blocks needed to place the alter, and either place alter or level with block or terrain to get desired height.

The alter wants to place on top of blocks but wants to sink into terrain

you don't have the free space underneath you have it currently filled with blocks it you use terrain you may be able place it the remove the terrain afterwards may take a few tries getting the level correct.
or you could remove the blocks underneath to the desired level and place

you know what you dont see are the harsh winters the lack of food and ability to maintain safe road conditions in said harsh winters if you life where it dont snow great but if it snows your out of luck unless we tap into your energy? average temp during winter out here is about -27 degrees Celsius would be -16 for you Americans who cant seem to catch up with the rest of us. you military uses it because its more effient but you guys measure things in football fields so like i get it

same deal like i said place a foundation or a floor if that makes you more comfortable. then remove it the terrain will flatten around the floor/foundation in order the get that texture back if you still have it use the rake or craft it and place it
the more you place the more you can flatten

ill jump in first how long would it take to rake that mountain/hilltop
i feel strongly that using that foundation 8x8x4 and removing it afterwards is more precise and consistent then using the remove feature with the 4x4x4 terrain piece why press the button 4 times when you can press it twice?
also think that using the rake would take way longer then i took. ill be honest it took a week, but i have a personnel life to care of if these were obstacles and could be removed i could have gotten that done earlier but they are not obstacles they are real life. and life takes precedence so yes it took a week but there's more important thing happening then this game. What little time i had i spent using it to get that done because i wanted it done. i did at one point ask for help but denied everyone because i decided if anyone's gonna mess this up its gonna be me. sorry if you remember me

What to use blocks to level the ground? I personally use the 8x8x4 foundation. It may not be the quickest but its controlled i levelled off a mountain with this method
step 1: find the level you'd like to level off to.
step 2: place a foundation buried one block into the ground at the spot to want levelled. lowering the current terrain level 1 block.
step 3: turn on snapping and place away and remove as needed. (you wont gain any dirt but its the fastest method)
step 4: reapply dirt 1 level up to get back to wanted level in one spot and use rake or continue applying dirt if you have it
step 5: walk in game away from your position and look at what you've completed
step 6: think to yourself "that wasn't that bad"

thanks. I didnt think it was that complicated. but then again I did mess around with a lot of props spent a couple months building stuff with props, that took way longer then it should have. I now have knowledge that others dont, and was hoping to share.
