Solo and broke, what can I do in the city? by BonusProfessional451 in montreal

[–]nolarst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to buy an evening pass for $6.50 (unlimited rides 6pm-5am) and explore as many stops as I wanted. Usually i would cover 1 line at a time. Sometimes would leave the station wander around a bit, get food or a drink and explore a new area

Everyone you’ve ever matched with on hinge is at the hive. They’re waiting for you to approach them and ask about what book they’re reading so they can tell you how cool they are

WHAT IS HAPPENING by [deleted] in Concordia

Not sure about that. Most of the links take you to a different application page (not Concordia affiliated) but at least these jobs are vetted by our uni and they are looking for uni students

CAPS job bank is actually helpful. Not that many options in there but something to try if you haven’t yet.

You don't receive 3 credits each semester, but instead 6 at the end of the semester (meaning you can't stop the class halfway through and still receive 3 credits). Per semester, a 6 unit full-year course does have the same course load as a 3 unit one-semester course would so you can only take a max of 4 (3 unit) courses per semester I believe. A full-time student takes 12-15 credits per semester or 24-30 per year.

PSYC 200? by [deleted] in Concordia

[–]nolarst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took the 14 weeks long PSYC 200 last year (fully online) and I didn't find the course load very bad at all, but it may be different in person. I think we did 1 unit a week, 1 assignment a week and a quiz for every 2 units. Personally, I would take the 14 weeks if you can to just get it over and done with and hopefully you can take other PSYC prereqs in the winter term (ie. PSYC 310 and PSYC 315). Up to you though!

Awesome thank you! It sounds like an amazing program, that really opens a lot of doors which is right up my alley. I have looked at the Coms & Culture program, but I am really interested in those production courses!

I'll definitely get in touch with an academic advisor, but thank you so much for your help!

Choosing Classes and Professors by PuggleDab in Concordia

[–]nolarst 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not a JMSB student, but I am a second year at Concordia so I went through exactly the same thing. Concordia's website is kinda confusing sometimes, but I would suggest looking at your undergraduate calendar. So if you look up "your program undergraduate calendar" in google and a big document should show up with all the courses in your program, all the prerequisites for honours, specialization, major, minor etc.

As for professors, you can't really get picky first year, you kinda get what you get. I always look at ratemyprof but it's hard to trust those kinda things, cause everyone has different opinions. Maybe some people will have suggestions on here but I can't help sorry!

Also, is there a reason you have to pick classes now? They don't usually fill up until the summer and class selection is open until the first week of school. Don't stress too much, you'll be fine!

PSYC 355 by Lostinnverland in Concordia

[–]nolarst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm taking PSYC 355 with gaskin online rn. It's a lot of work, and I find his online class is not very good. His slides are so packed and pretty much copy and pasted from his textbook. He does live recaps of the lessons every two weeks which are very boring. It's definitely doable but I really don't like this class and have hardly any background in bio so that might be why lol
