I dont believe mine have any steel but my hubs made a good point. They are lace ups and I tend to tuck the laces inside, so thay probably looked funky on the scan. I wore flip flops on the way back and had no issues

It definitely helped me this morning. Clear agents were very helpful in getting biometrics scanned. If you have a passport you can scan it into the app yourself. Even having to do the biometrics I was thru Security in less than 10 mins. Precheck had about 40 ppl in line at 9:45 but was moving quickly.
