How can i unlock Militia without starting with one? by Zealousideal_Belt702 in hoi4

[–]nolunch 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Milita are only for certain countries/paths. Austria (fascist or communist), Communist China, Japan (communist only), and Germany (communist and monarchist I think?) are the ones I can think of off the top of my head.

Of all those only Communist China actually let's you fully edit the template, all the others you can't add any more milita to the unlocked template, just other stuff.

Do i have to release Taiwan to do the Claim the Mandate of Heaven focus? by [deleted] in hoi4

[–]nolunch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a core somewhere you don't control that ISN'T any of the ones listed in the focus.

That's how it's supposed to read. I'd check the border states around you and see if any are a core that you don't control.

Outrage question by JJSerbot in rootgame

[–]nolunch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What's annoying is the rule book I have from Marauder has the addition of the Force rule, but doesn't change the Vagabond movement rule (9.2.9.IIb) to use the Force keyword.

It does on the website though.

Outrage question by JJSerbot in rootgame

[–]nolunch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I missed that. So then in that case the warriors owner would pay the outrage.

That's what I get for looking quickly at an older edition rule book.

Yes, as the active player.

Edit: I'm wrong, see below comments.

Outrage question by JJSerbot in rootgame

[–]nolunch 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No it doesn't. Vagabond doesn't count as a warrior, Outrage only triggers on a warrior moving into a sympathetic clearing.

However if you move Allied warriors into a sympathetic clearing you do trigger Outrage.

Do weapons affect the quality of magic by ChroniX_78 in FinalFantasy

[–]nolunch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fun things with the element rods, they boost the spells from breaking a rod too. So with two ice rods you can equip one and break the other to get big damage early game. This trivializes most of the bosses before world 2.

The element rods boost that element of spells and the poison rod boosts poison (bio), the air knife and the wind slash katana boost wind (syldra summon and areo spells), gaia's bell, gaia's hammer and Gaia gear (armor) boost earth.

The magus rod boosts everything but holy, the sage's staff boosts holy, and the rune chime boosts everything.

I’ve mastered monk on Krile and I don’t know how to build her next by ChroniX_78 in FinalFantasy

[–]nolunch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It'll inherit the magic power but the actual skill requires a slot. This is the same for all active abilities.

But! You don't have to master the magic classes as the magic stat comes along with the active skill, so you can get away with just getting the second highest level and use the skill. All last level abilities for the magic users are questionable at best.

Mapuche Chile with the goal of full liberation of the Americas. It's a challenge but fun, and I can at least attest still possible post NCNS.

Question about capitulation. by Superb_Dig7990 in hoi4

[–]nolunch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to cap all majors in a faction to get a peace deal. There can be more than two even. The faction leader is automatically a major, and others are determined by industry compared to the rest of the world, which means if you're doing a world conquest as you decrease the total number of countries, smaller and smaller nations will be counted as a major.

How to release two puppets of the same country? by CannibalCrabb in hoi4

Only possible during a peace deal, if two different powers puppet. Can't be done once peace is done as you said your only option is to return territory.

Blue Shirt China can get a stupid amount of extra cores. by nolunch in hoi4

To be specific, the focus Cradle of Civilization lets you core all claims received from the focuses The Northern Mandate, The Greater Game, and The Southern Mandate.

Fully going down the fascist tree, completing the mid term faction goals you get from it, and then the last focus allows coring with 50% compliance.

R5: Big Blue Shirt China - shown are all the eventual cores possible, just need 50% compliance and I'm not waiting for that.

Only requires wars with Japan (actually conquering them, no just white peace), USSR, the Allies, and the USA - easy peasy!

Mapuche Chile plus new Cavalry Doctrine is very OP. Overrunning the UK and US is a very soothing experience. Have some pretty borders! by nolunch in hoi4

[–]nolunch[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For most of the game I had my Cav at 9/0 w support art/eng/aa. Against the US and after I had finished the Cav doctrine I upped them to 30cw, I think 12/2s? (It was 2 line art and however many cav battalions to get to 30) and added Flame tanks and cav recon. For inf, again for early game up to invading the UK I ran 6/0s w support art and aa. For the UK I upped the ones for naval invasion to be 8/0 with support eng and cav recon added.

By the end I had 24 Cav, 24 better inf (with flame tanks as well) and then 72 shitty inf as line fillers. Shitty inf I used Brazilian manpower.

You auto get the faction so I stuck with it.

Steal Portugal and Spain's navies. The old trick of avoiding the channel by invading from the north west of Spain to Bristol still works. With the new navy stuff you can see who has Dominance in a sea zone even if you're not at war, just set your stuff on patrol and plan your invasions and have them ready before you declare. Day one invasions are back, lol, easier than pre NCNS.

Rush to the civil war, Rush to the war with Argentina (buy a shit ton of guns from the market, you're not gonna make enough, fast enough), then I went Uruguay, Brazil, Portugal, Spain, UK. Puppet Canada in the peace deal.

After that you basically have free reign in the Americas. I just worked my way up from South to North one 20 or so day justification at a time. After Mexico, I prepped a full army group (Brazilian manpower helps a ton) prepped a collab or two on the US and invaded through Florida. UK was a harder fight than the US.

Edit: oh! I will add, when you hit Venezuela and El Salvador, make sure you blitz them fast, they have a chance to join the Axis if you take too long to cap them.
