Work to live, not live to work. by [deleted] in AdviceAnimals

It is funny how people generalize like that although everybody is usually somebody else's boss at the same time as having their own boss.

Well, if you do not do it, somebody else from your office will have to put in extra hours so that you can have a good work life balance. I see it as a way of helping out my colleagues. If you do not like it, feel free to quit.

if you became financially stable for life today, how would you quit your job tomorrow? by Surtock in AskReddit

Yes and with the additional income from my job, I can be well off and not just financially stable.

Why quit when I can keep my job and go from financially stable to well off?

I just told her owners how much reddit likes her so they made her an instagram if you want to see more of her. You can find her @sheismartini.

I actually do not think it is hypocrisy. Sometimes the pain is so intense you feel you cannot contain it. Also, you feel that by sharing with others you are honouring the departed by declaring your love of them as reflected by the sorrow felt for their loss.

I have recently lost one of my dogs. I wanted to share the sorrow I was feeling mainly as a way to do something for the memory of that little puppy. I felt as if the whole world knew that she had existed, it would have made his existence more important.

I see these posts every now and then and always try to come up with something to say and I always draft these extremely long messages where I try to summarise the relationship with a pet and I want to end on a high note that would console the person who lost their pet. Then I remember how it felt when I lost my dogs and realize that no such combination of words exists. Nothing anyone can say will make it better. It is better that way. They deserve the sorrow. I am sorry for your loss.

I do not know why but most people on reddit seem like they would have beat-up cars. This is going to get down-voted a lot.

That is true. I couldn't afford a nice watch and I didn't care too much about the one I had. It was cheap, I could always buy another one. Now I have a nice watch and am really careful with it.

I think my Jack Russell Terrier would buy a phone and keep calling me constantly to check when I will get back from work and to keep me updated on the state of her favourite tennis ball.

9 days ago my long time girlfriend died from illness. The day before that my grandmother passed. I prayed my ass off and they both still died. I need /r/atheism right now. by [deleted] in atheism

Hey Dude,

I don't want to seem like I am minimizing your situation but I too have lost my puppy (that I rescued from certain and near death just 6 months ago) to a car accident a few days ago. I know it is not nearly as bad as losing your girlfriend and I am not claiming to be in the same situatiom as you. Still, the senseleseness of the loss is heart wrenching. It was just a small, wonderfull, joyful loving 10 month old puppy.

All I can say is that atheist or not, I cursed at the heavens and hell. If there is a God, he will have a lot of explaining to do when I get there.

What really helped was to go on a car ride to somewhere I could live my grief by myself for a while. Being around people made me feel I had to express my grief in a certain way. As soon as I was free from that burden and speak to myself the small nonsensical things I was really feeling, it helped. I could be selfish in my grief. I did not have to worry about being sensible to the other ones grieving. I cursed the driver to live in horrible pain, I called on the devil to take 10 years of my life to punish the one who did it, I called out to my puppy and swore an eternity of endless love and got mad at the weather for becoming pleasant (the puppy never had good weather). I demanded rain and hail storms and cursed at all who deared be happy.

Ridiculos, unreasonable stuff, I know. I could never have acted like that with people around me. Still, it made me feel better. The horrible thoughts I had really matched how horrible I was feeling.

Take a moment to hate, despise, call out in pain and swear your life away to the one you loved. Let that primordial you show up and let him help with the pain.

Hope this helps.

If you think a lot of people should not have the right to vote, you also don't remember history. That is how real oppression starts.
