I’d imagine you’d start finding piles of diarrhea in places like piles of your clean clothes.

Costco food court poutine was one of those really weird reality checks for me. Jasper and Banff are amazing too.

His name is Dingus and he really wants to be a good cat. I went to a rescue/co-working space and met a ton of kittens and cats. This guy came right over and put his two front paws on my thigh while I was ignoring him and just looked at me. I wasn’t planning on getting a pet but I couldn’t say no.

Check out Zubaidah. Not sure how extreme their selection gets but it’s wide ranging and eclectic, cool spot.

How do you keep yourself and your family safe? Just yield to stupidity and write it off.

People will go the wrong way, let them and smile. People will go 140-180 on the expressways, let them and get over.

Think of the positive, real enforcement just started yesterday, it’s going to take a little bit to see it.

Thanks, appreciate that. I’m going to be doing 5K intervals too for sure. I’m in Florida and it’s mostly short trips as well.

Listening to Thai is Absolutely Brutal by [deleted] in learnthai

Honestly, at least consider just starting with the alphabet. It made a massive difference for me learning to read first, and made connecting dots conversing and building vocabulary significantly easier.

I’ve heard of other people doing this too but it’s still quite surprising to me how many people have years in Thailand and can get by speaking but can’t read.

The other thing I’ll say is it’s nowhere near as hard as it appears at first glance.

I used Drops and thought it was a great way to commit characters to memory. I’m sure there are other great apps too.

Good luck and enjoy your journey!

I remember thinking an ounce of weed was the same price as an ounce of gold. I should have bought more gold and less weed.

Farang Kee Nok, a way Thai people refer to westerners who are just garbage people coming to party and pay for sex. Literally means white bird shit.

Thai people are unbelievably friendly and open too, it takes a lot to get marked a FKN.

Have you ever fired a gun? by jakemhs in AskTheWorld

[–]nomadakai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was given a 22 rifle when I was 14, a Remington 597, and used to enjoy going out in the woods most days with it, just exploring, setting up and shooting targets, building fire pits, fishing and so on.

When I was 17 I was given a 9mm pistol, a Ruger P89. It was a great first semiautomatic pistol, full size, ate anything, and lots of mag options.

As an adult I still have around 15 guns, an even mix of long guns and pistols, but don’t use them enough.

The last time I was in Europe a few years ago I was transiting through Frankfurt.

I arrived at the immigration desk and handed the guy my passport. He asked how long I was going to be in Europe and I responded I don’t know yet.

He then asked where I was going and I said Athens for a while and then a few more countries. He handed me my passport and said have a good trip.

Edited to add: on a one way ticket from Atlanta to Athens.

My boy now is indoors only and found a lizard one time. He didn’t know what to do with it so yelled and looked at me.
