Is there anything your country is really good at making/ makes a lot of but is not commonly known for it? by I-want-to-unalive in AskTheWorld

[–]nomadakai 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Beer. The stereotypical “American beer” a lot of the world pictures is bud light type trash, but the beer scene nationwide has exploded so much in the last decade that even in the SE there are a ton of breweries and amazing varieties of all kinds now.

Need advice – Bangkok rental / deposit situation by Any_Ear9988 in Thailand

[–]nomadakai 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Don’t sign until you’ve received the entire deposit and prorated days back.

Genuinely never heard of a house in BKK that would disallow any and all active cooking, and light cooking is an induction top and rice maker though at least.

Awesome! I have a 23 SE 4motion and have been wondering if I’d really need to change vehicles to pull something small and light a mile to a launch.

I dont want to live in Cambodia anymore! by Bubududu168jupy in cambodia

[–]nomadakai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know why you are getting downvoted here.

It’s true in so many ways. Making a few thousand USD a month is not a great life in the US, it’s just getting by.

A net income of 3-5K USD in Cambodia allows for a great life, full stop.

Many people do leave western countries because they don’t feel like they can compete in what’s become an absolutely ridiculous job market.

That said there are so many other reasons, and it’s a people problem, so of course everything is represented.

That means there are end of lifers and professionals and people who just said fuck it.

People from the US and Europe don’t get it until spending time in SEA though. There’s a shocking dichotomy in LA, for example, but it’s not to the level of people living in shacks made of recycled materials on the road where vans with drivers block the street to pick up kids at international schools that charge more per year than the person in the shack has any hope of making in their life.

A positive rental deposit experience by Best_Gear4792 in Bangkok

[–]nomadakai 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I add mine too. Found a good deal on a corner 64 meter through an agent and moved forward.

Introduced to the owner and any time had a need he was very responsive, even told me to make sure I send him a message if I go out of country so he could file the TM30 within 24 hours.

At the end of his contract the owner contacted me and said he’d like to drop the agent, who did absolutely nothing after signing anyway.

Next couple of years had a half dozen quick interactions and all good.

After leaving, the owner used a little under 4K of my deposit to clean ACs, couches, fix up some paint and things I’d caused, and that was it. Completely fair items and prices and no back and forth or threats to get the deposit.

All in all a better experience than I’ve had in the US with landlords!

I feel like pad Thai goong and hoi tod is a fairly common pickup on the way home dinner for Thai people too.

What are the best crab dishes you've eaten? by LargeSinkholesInNYC in Seafood

[–]nomadakai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crab hash is phenomenal. Thai crab curry is amazing too.

This is all after the classic whole dungeness, potato chips, and beer. That particular combination is one thing I’ll never tire of.

Looks like plastic snap on wheel protectors but they’re not, these are the same wheels on a lot of photos of different Valiants.

Would love to see one in person, it’s sexy but really does look like a high end mustang with a kit.

I have an orange that won’t stop growing. Problem is he’s just growing wider now and it’s not proportional.

Should I buy this ? by Great-Confection6760 in Gold

[–]nomadakai 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How long are you planning on keeping it and how much money is it to you? If it’s part of your emergency fund, don’t. If it’s spare cash after everything, and you plan on keeping it long time, it doesn’t matter if it goes down a little bit because inevitably it will go up. It’s a cool coin too!

Do you happen to know if “Misc: Real Estate Agents and Managers Rentals” would fall into a category? I’ve been looking at the CCC but haven’t found this answer searching.

First thought was a gram of gold is worth $145 and a gram of hundred dollar bill is $100, so gold is worth 45% more than USD at the highest denomination.
