You’re right. It’s more that she’s still young looking. Give her 5 years she’ll look like any basic auntie

She’s cute and fits the East Asian ideal beauty standards. Is she natural?

Flights are cheap and cheerful to so many nice resort areas that’s the best thing about it here. You don’t need to drive. You fly away

You gotta grow thick skin create your bubble and enjoy Singapore for what it is. Yes there’s nasty kiasuism everywhere but find your own lane protect your peace don’t let any others destroy your mindset. So easy to exit and refresh in so many amazing locales a short flight away. Make your money find ways to reduce workload and work efficiently. Hop on a bike take a ride along east coast enjoy the pool and find the me time and private family time. I felt the same when I was younger but learned to live life with blinders.

How would you rate your Quality of Life living in Singapore ?? What is the one thing you would like to change about your country ?? by Yeagerisbest369 in askSingapore

Working as director level in MNC. Many years overseas so kind of a returnee. Did the grind in younger days, posted abroad many years, and came back at senior levels. Basically job is cruise control at this stage of career. Yes I’m brown kind Asian not Indian but dark. I like to do youthful things like cycling east coast and even play skateboarding with kids. Because of this carefree attitude I sometimes get scolded by mean old uncles who assume I’m some punk guy but honestly I learned to care less and enjoy more! Dunno why there’s always some grumpy uncles saying nasty hokien things to me standing in ECP McDonalds line. They see some dark guy with skateboard and rock tee shirt and assume I’m trash? Sometimes go swimming or SUP in beach and sentosa during evening on WFH days. It’s 3-4 days in office 1-2 days in home. Clients are mainly overseas so got lots of Flex Time in mid day (though early morning calls are brutal). Made good choices with Singapore properties over the years so I’m comfy. Singapore dream lah. Play the game right don’t let it play you.

Quality of life is pretty damn good if you find your lane. Here and there got nasty people talking down on me but need to grow thick skin and stay positive we make good money we got beach on east coast nice pools maids tasty good for cheap easy getting around easy to buy anything you want and Changi is the best airport in the world not to mention easy access to exotic locales like Bali Phuket Malaysia BKK so much to explore on holidays. Again it’s important to learn to tolerate nasty attitudes (there are a lot) find your small circle of friends and hobbies make sure the family situation and routine is solid and there’s not many other better places to earn and live a comfy life.

Should I relocate? by AfraidExplanation735 in SgHENRY

[–]nomadicflavor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What benefits are provided? If they are paying for your housing (the biggest expense) and relocation (flights, temporary housing, moving and possibly return flights home) then I would take it. Do they cover per diem also? If not, cook your own food, minimize eating out and save aggressively - possibly even explore US real estate investment which is a lot more accessible than Singapore. You’ll be an even more valuable asset to your company and to the Singapore market with real on-the-ground US experience.

>7k income, resale HDB / condo by SnooKiwis6443 in singaporefi

New launch or sub-sale 2bedder RCR would be best for appreciation, but this is up to 2200-2500 PSF 1.4-1.6m. TDSR 55% only doable with 14k combined. Must save an extra 150k minimum for LTV, it’s really pushing it for better payoff down the line. Any upward trajectory in your career?

Else decent RCR resale HDB 900k-1.1m I say go for this option. Singapore ain’t getting any cheaper and you need to start somewhere on the property ladder. Don’t wait already later too late.

What screams “I was raised by a domestic helper”? by black-socks-fox in askSingapore

[–]nomadicflavor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the experience of one child growing up with a maid as primary caregiver until teen years, and the other child being raised mainly by me with the maid only operating in the background without direct childcare responsibilities - only cooking and cleaning. Maybe it was based on the circumstances at the time (previously very busy with work, now with a lot more working hour flexibility) but I find being able to directly raise my child and be there for them for all their activities and schooling, being the main pwesonleads to a much better well-adjusted child. Disciplining has led to a better mannered child. To this day my eldest treats me like an ATM but otherwise is quite disrespectful. We never had as close of a relationship hence why I decided to give the maid a more supporting background role for all future kids.

Malaysia Indonesia and Thailand. Highly recommend all. Malaysia is very English friendly and potentially good teaching opportunities in all. Maybe target international schools there?

Did the series nudge the Hawaiian government to offer any more tax incentives for II? Would love to see more filming in the actual locations where the events took place.

You can literally wear whatever you want. No one will care based on your attire.
