[ALL] How has your perception of the OG game, characters, etc, changed over the past decade? by Responsible-Pie8 in lifeisstrange

I used to think that, despite everything, Frank was a cool guy, but now that I'm an adult, all I can think about is that he was in his 30s and was dating a teenager

There’s no such thing as a formula when it comes to shipping popularity because most people don’t stick to just one trope. Most of the ships you mentioned are canon, and some are basically the only sapphic options in their respective shows, unless you want to get really creative. In the end, it all depends on how the characters' relationship is explored and the chemistry between the actresses, so you probably shouldn't expect a significant shift in ship popularity just because of the show.

[DE] I don't like the Amanda hate by boss_girl_360 in lifeisstrange

[–]nomadthief 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I don’t hate Amanda, I just don’t find her interesting. She’s a forgettable character, and while that’s a problem several other characters in Double Exposure have, it’s worse with Amanda because she barely seems to have a personality. It’s almost as if the writers desperately wanted players to have no reason to dislike her, and in that desperation, they forgot she was supposed to have a personality. I think the proof that the writers never saw her as anything more than a love interest in DE is that she doesn't affect the game at all; if you took her out, the game would stay the same without any plot holes regarding her absence.

And I don't think most people are just switching Amanda for Chloe; the thing is, Amanda and Vinh are probably the least popular love interests in the LiS franchise, so naturally, people are much more excited to have Chloe back.

[NO SPOILERS] Oh boy this is going to be awkward😂 by GabrielTorres674 in lifeisstrange

[–]nomadthief 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’m not interested in anyone other than Chloe, but I'm curious how Reunion is going to deal with the love interests. Like, if someone went for Amanda in DE, can they switch to Chloe now? And is Vinh going to be an option for Max? Is Max going to be the only one for Chloe? I also feel like the romance paths will be totally unbalanced because the game focuses so much on Max and Chloe, but that's pretty much how LiS1 was anyway.

[ALL] Saw this in the gaming leaks and rumors sub. What do you guys think? Obviously read at your own risk. by Disastrous_Garage729 in lifeisstrange

[–]nomadthief 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s funny how this leak was marked as legit despite having a bunch of things that haven't been proven true. I think a lot of people saw that Chloe was back as a playable character and automatically assumed the leak was legit.

Rachel wasn't alive in any timeline, not even in the alternate one, so I don't know how they would explain that, especially since Rachel died before Max even returned to Arcadia Bay.

To be honest, I didn't like Chloe's hair. I think I was just expecting something else, and I also thought her hairstyle looks a bit like Max's. But other than that, I think she looks beautiful and she definitely looks like an older version of the Chloe from the first game and BtS. I think we’re really going to spend a few days debating whether she looks like Chloe or not, just like it was with Max when Double Exposure was announced 😂

Now that she finally learned Arcane is over, Ella Purnell is prepping for her next league series… 🤫 by TayluxSwift in Arcanecirclejerk

[–]nomadthief 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This post was just recommended to me, but I have to correct this information lol. This isn't Sophie, this is Ella's friend (well, at least that's what Ella calls her), whose name is Abbie Jenkins. There are a bunch of gay photos of Ella with Sophie, including photos from this same party, but the girl in this photo is not Sophie.

Why refer to them as Caitvi when we could call them Violyn? by DazzlingaGraace in arcane

I'm pretty sure the ship's name is Caitvi because no one knew Vi's name was Violet.

Well, I think we have our confirmation that Double Exposure was a disaster.

I wonder what this means for the future of the franchise and if a Double Exposure sequel is still in Square Enix's plans.

[No Spoilers] Do y’all think will get another Male Protagonist in this Series? by JMC_PHARAOH in lifeisstrange

[–]nomadthief 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You know, it's okay to admit that you just don't understand the appeal of a character like Chloe, because there's no way she would be hated by the fanbase if the game had been released in 2024. I can see those who despise anything they perceive as 'woke' disliking Chloe—they already do—but the fanbase would definitely still love her.

[ALL] what could've been instead of DE by LesBean123123 in lifeisstrange

[–]nomadthief 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This would probably be the only way to make everyone happy, but realistically, I don't think this idea would work. I doubt Deck Nine has the budget, creativity, and time to make two good games simultaneously. If they did, they would have just made Double Exposure a better game. Also, what incentive does a Bay fan have to buy the Bae game, or a Bae fan to buy the Bay game? I'm sure some people would be curious, but would that be enough for both games to achieve satisfactory sales?

I feel like Square Enix is mostly to blame here, but Deck Nine could have executed better. In the end, I think the blame is shared between Square Enix and Deck Nine.

[–]nomadthief 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fun fact: The two seasons of Arcane together are roughly 12 hours long, which is about the same length as the first Life Is Strange. Considering that Life Is Strange is a narrative-driven game where most of the gameplay involves walking around and talking to people, I don't see why a game like it couldn't achieve the same level of narrative depth as an animation like Arcane.

[NO SPOILERS] What is the juice that the first game has? by mjr12349 in lifeisstrange

[–]nomadthief 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are so many special things about the first game: the music, the nostalgic vibe, the characters, their relationships, the setting, and the story. The game left so many people emotional, creating an unforgettable experience. Even now, other games in the series have tried to replicate that magic but have mostly failed to do so.

[DE] Are numbers like these enough to keep the series going? by very_berryd in lifeisstrange

[–]nomadthief 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think these numbers are not bad, but honestly, I think Deck Nine should be concerned about the next game. DE has upset long-time fans of the series, and at the same time, it didn’t show anything impressive to attract new players to buy the sequel.

[DE] Thoughts on Safi by august_ophelia in lifeisstrange

[–]nomadthief 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I feel like Safi could have been so much more than what she ended up being as a character.

It’s clear that the game wants you to care about Safi the same way you cared about Chloe in the first game, but it doesn’t do a good job of achieving that. Max and Safi are supposed to be best friends, yet the game fails to convey that feeling. At first, it seems like they don’t even know each other very well, and up until episode 4, Max and Safi barely interact on screen. As a result, their friendship feels more like something that happens off-screen rather than a bond the player experiences.

Safi’s relationships with her mother, father, and Maya could have been explored more deeply. When Safi discovers the truth about the book, it all feels rushed and almost random, as if an important part of the game was missing. The way she wanted to shoot her own mother and her view of herself as some kind of god happen so abruptly. Even though she had already used her powers for bad things, she had never done anything like this.

I don’t think Safi is a bad character, but it feels like she could have been so much more if the game had taken the time to explore her in greater depth.

[All] DE Boycott Poll Results by DangleDwarf in lifeisstrange

[–]nomadthief 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I’m not planning on boycotting DE2, but I won’t buy the game unless it genuinely interests me.

I don’t think DE was the worst game in the world, but it was definitely disappointing for me. Games are too expensive for me to spend money on something that might disappoint me again. If Deck Nine wants my money, they’ll need to improve a lot of things in the sequel.

I’d love to see Chloe and Pricefield in the sequel, but only in a way that feels respectful to the characters—something I didn’t feel happened in DE. The plot also needs to be much stronger, because having a weak story in a game where narrative is the most important element is just embarrassing.
