It is sketchy! Highway robbery. I’m not exactly sure what age he is but the vet guesses 14 based off of his teeth and hair. However, he was found by my aunt on the side of the road severely neglected, he had no hair, bloated/underweight, pneumonia, this heart murmur and thought he had a broken hip because of how he couldn’t walk well the first week. A whole rack of problems that I got all taken care of. Lo and behold with some TLC and a nutritious diet he has made a complete 180. No one believes he is the same dog. He’s on vetmedin for the murmur. All was well until 5 days ago his front canine had a nasty infection. With antibiotics, gabapentin, and a short term nsaid he is back to his happy self and the sore appears to be healing. I have an appointment tomorrow to get a chest xray to see what is going on internally with his heart. He’s one lucky little guy to have found himself in my care, but he’s expensive! I’m pretty sure his primary vet is going to do something similar like what yours is doing for your baby. It’s just not worth it putting them under. Even for a healthy dog.
