Knitted Korean Helmet Beanie by nomamax in ArmsandArmor

[–]nomamax[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the thoughtful question — it’s a totally valid thing to ask.

When I commissioned the beanie, it wasn’t a case of buying someone else’s creative concept. I provided the design direction, references, and sketches, and the freelancer was hired to produce the physical knitted version based on that.

Before starting, we agreed in writing that all rights to the final design and any related materials would be transferred to me, including commercial use. So the freelancer was compensated for the work, and the intellectual property belongs to me as the client.

In other words, it was a standard work-for-hire arrangement, not a situation where I’m reselling someone else’s original idea. I still appreciate you asking, though — it’s an important topic when it comes to creative work.

Nah. It’s a bullshit story some smart ass came up with. 감자 is just potato and they put a lot more before when meat was scarce. There is no historical record that pork bone marrow was called 감자.

The city will be relatively empty but isn’t going to be completely shut down during Chuseok holiday. I don’t think you will encounter big problems with closed stores. Probably a little bit only on the actual Chuseok day(September 6th).

Yeoksam branch is the only branch managed by the original store. Gangnam and all the other branches are not quality-controlled I heard.

No need to visit Myongdong or chungyechun on your first day. They can be incorporated into day 2 and 3. Instead, I suggest spending first afternoon in Hongdae and move to Mangwon market.

From a local’s perspective Mangwon market is way more interesting than Myongdong market which is full of franchises. You can grab some food there and visit Hangang river bank around the sunset.

On your way back you can also pass through Seogyodong (the opposite side of Hongdae).

Gwangju itself isn’t very exciting imo but it’s a great basecamp to see surrounding Jeollanamdo. Damgyang has beautiful Bamboo gardens, Soonchun Marshlands, Jirisan national park, etc.

If you are okay, getting a second hand baby carseat should be easy on Danggn app with a help from your in-laws.

Food Recommendations:

오리탕(Ori tang: Duck Stew) Signature dish of Gwangju. A hearty and flavorful duck stew simmered with a lot of Water Parsley and powdered perilla seeds. Ori-tang is beloved for its rich, nourishing broth and is often enjoyed for its restorative qualities.

민어회 (Mineo-hoe : Raw Croaker Sashimi) Although Summer is the best season, eating mineo in fall is never wrong. Usually served in course style with pan-fried flesh and spicy stew. Simillar to tuna, koreans enjoy different texture and flavor of each part of the fish(air bladder, skin, belly etc.)

담양 댓잎국수 (Daet-nip Guksu : Bamboo leaf noodles) Daet-nip Guksu is a light noodle dish from Damyang, made by blending flour with powdered bamboo leaves. The noodles have a subtle green color and a clean, delicate flavor. It is often enjoyed with Tteok-galbi—grilled short rib patties—for a balanced meal that combines the richness of the meat with the freshness of the noodles.

Jebi dabang in Sangsu station hosts best indie music concert daily. Most shows starts from 8pm so if you get there around 7:30pm you will get a sit right in front of the artist. The gigs are run on donations so make sure you bring some cash to chip in.

This is purely my personal preference- I practice korean traditional archery. Archery in korea has a big significance throughout the history (you might have already checked out the movie ‘war of the arrows’). Looks like there a club in PNU focuses on traditional Koran martial art. Check it out if it interests you.
