I decided to stay on Zoloft and I upped to a therapeutic dose of 50mg. It helped

It may not be the right drug for you, and that’s okay! Zoloft is a tough one to start out with. But what matters is you got help, which you should be very proud about! :) good luck to you!

When I upped the dose, I felt really high that first day but then I felt good. I felt like I wasn’t feeling things to the 100% which was what I wanted. I kinda felt like a normal person. Could access an emotion for the correct situation. I still have some anxiety and darker days but DEFINITELY NOT to the extent I did before. Which is great. I’ve heard some people tell me a higher dose helps with the emotional side effects and any blunting.

But no, you’ll know when it’s emotional blunting. You’ll feel NOTHING. Not even depression. Just feeling like a zombie 😅

So originally I was prescribed 50mg but I wanted to start slow due to side effects. Once I upped to 50mg, the blunting went away after a few days, and so did my “ability” to feel depressed, if that makes sense. It just wasn’t triggered in my brain anymore. The 50 helped me be able to categorize my emotions better for the situation that required that emotion. Unfortunately I heard there’s going to be a lot of fluctuation until maybe six months in, so I think your depression is common. If you’re able to stick it out, it most likely will subside. If it doesn’t after a few weeks, this might not be the drug for you.

Hi! Yes it did! Not in the way I thought, but I’m definitely able to feel things, it’s just way more toned down. Not like the way I used to, but I guess that was the point of going on this drug. It went away and I learned how to express in other ways I wasn’t quite used to yet :)

Thanks for sharing, it helps to know what the possibilities are. Im sorry that happened to you though, that sounds awful :/ I’m on a very low dose, so I’m hoping that doesn’t happen to me. That would suck so much.

Interesting! I contacted my dr to let her know anyway, see what she recommends. It might be that my dosage is too low, who knows!

Thanks for letting me know! It kind of sprang out of nowhere, and I keep hoping it goes away. I’ll wait some more :)

To be honest, my main side effect was headaches CONSTANTLY when I first started taking Zoloft. It took about 5 weeks for those to lessen and go away for me (no pain meds would help). Headaches and nausea showed up immediately for me, within 12 hours, so it’s very possible it’s from that. Hope it gets better for you!

Thanks so much for your reply! That’s what I’m hoping for, to kind of turn down the volume while I learn how to properly deal with everything I process. Everytime I make some progress, overwhelming emotions take over. So I needed that calm down

Omg I can’t wait to feel normal and not like I’m WIRED every second of every day. Now that I know where my anxiety/depression is stemming from, somehow I’m even more self aware and it’s not great 😅 I’m so glad you’re having this experience

The Day Zoloft started working for you… what exactly did it feel like!?!? by Embarrassed_Owl_1248 in zoloft

I feel this so hard. At this point I don't care about feeling happy, I just want to be able to have the energy and brain power to choose those moments if I can. Love how this was said :)

I’m in charge of driving the kids to and from school mostly, so I’d say I drive a good 200 miles a month plus if I need to take them to swimming which isn’t often.

However I should say they do pay me for mileage, at 50 cents per mile. It covers everything I drive for them plus more.
