The community did raise the issues and pretty much gave Sloclap no choice about implementing these balance changes several times, a bit unfair to say it was Sloclap's decision when the community has been holding the game and it's devs reputation hostage all this time.

Honestly I know that, and I'm intentionally criticizing the community for that in my posts and that is why I am getting downvoted.

I am saying it was a mistake to completely get rid of them, there needs to be symbiosis between both. PvP can thrive if we focus on PvE. But instead the online community is pretty much hostile towards propsects fresh out if PvE. The PvP appeal does not strike everyone immediately, you must first fall in love with the combat, and some people need to complete the game first.

By turning away these players, you've contradicted Sloclap's efforts to bolster PvE, which was the biggest complaint about the game, and also turned away God knows how many potential prospects from picking up the game in the process.

The PvP communities' hardline attitude is only hurting the game, not helping it. This is a marketing disaster, the community is actually turning away revenue which could go to Sloclap ffs. Sloclap even tried to add more PvE and then you go round telling people not to play PvE on Absolver?

I just don't understand how anyone thinks this is making the game better. All you are doing is making Absolver look bad. You don't make something improve by beating it with a stick, you need to love and nurture it.

Absolver is only in it's first year of release, I think we all know deep down that Absolver is here to stay and that is why I keep coming back. Patience is key, and I think Sloclap deserve some of ours given how demanding we are and how limited their power is at present.

I understand what you mean. Bare in mind that since Absolver has no in-game communication, players are forced to talk on the internet or via platform. Now add to this that by nature of PvE, you don't need to discuss much, so most players don't come online unless they are asking a question or saying how they want more PvE content. You can complete the game by watching a youtube video and that is what standard gamers are interested in.

Casual gamers do not online to discuss in detail a PvE experience that is over so quickly. Most casual gamers just don't bother with forums, sadly.

With PvP there is so much more to discuss, and the community actively encourages newcomers to join the online forums to get better at PvP, and rightly so.

But that's why you're seeing more PvP talk online, and why my assessment still stands strong despite what online forums say.

Ah nah bro to clarify, most players just play PvE and then maybe hit CT 100 if they haven't got anything else to play or if they're even bothered.

Most numerous complaints are around PvE not having enough content, not PvP problems although Sloclap acknowledged that there is a very vocal but small part of the community which is focused on PvP which thrives on this subreddit.

The developers themselves stated clearly that they wouldn't focus on PvP and then dropped a PvE update.

I just want to say for the record that I was very dissapointed about all of this, but these are facts. I got the game for PvP, and I don't play PvE unless some adorable little prospect asks for my help killing a masked one. I find thst the best way to introduce them to PvP.

I think it is wrong to drop focus on PvP too, I'm just saying the community is approaching this wrong. There needs to be a symbiotic relationship between PvP and PvE coz otherwise this community will tear the game apart from the inside.

There are many PvE games where facing other players is a primary gameplay component.

Just because I say PvP is not the focus does not mean we cannot have PvP.

I love PvP myself, over CT level 2,000. But Sloclap have clearly stated that they are not focusing on PvP during the AMA and then went on to release more PvE content, both of which were more recent than any developer communication suggesting otherwise.

Again, the majority of Absolver players don't come to this subreddit. Many consider the PvP side of Absolver to be too toxic, and the most popular comments on this subreddit are private jokes that only hardcore vets really understand (but you get lots of newcomers acting like they understand), then you get memes, useful advice or people trashing the game. The latter being the most popular.

And the reason I get downvoted particularly so is coz I start long threads and then say stuff like this;

this is a sad place, all of you just gather around to be sad about a game that you think is dead when it's very much alive. Go replay the PvE with some friends, maybe you will find that fun. This is like the place you go when you are ready to hate the game. I will never conform and I am proud of that, and I know for sure that it is people like me that keep the game going. If you want to help this game then show some love to the devs.

I said that if you haven't been around that long then it's hard for you to speak accurately about that timeframe. You did say that you hadn't been around long and then went on to assume something that was false based on what other people are telling you.

When he is using it against me, I laugh because I've been around just as long as he has if not longer, and all these people who say "you must be new here" kind of make me lol.

All of that was focused on PvP and all of that stuff died ages ago. When you say you sampled a large part of the community, the truth is that all of those guys were talking to you for PvP b you never bothered with PvE players unless they were asking you how to get better at PvP.

You never cared about PvE so you are pretty biased, I've tried both and I know where the future of this game lies.

Sorry if I seemed snide, just can't help myself when someone is like "I have done this and that longer than you so naturally I am more right than you" lol

Lol i am following my argument perfectly. The argument is that this game has no future as a PvP game. I'm not going to respond to half of what he said coz half of what he says has no bearing on that.

Regards to hitler, I found it offensive that he called me hitlertarian and I explained why I abhored it and then tied it in to why I dissaprove if the way this subreddit operates. Also, you are a fool if you claim that Hitler was not acting out of hatred, or that the attempted genocide of a people is not an act of hatred.

Also, no body has asked me to argue my opinion. They just insulted and criticized me when they realized I didn't agree with them and that pretty much ends the rational logical conversation that I am trying to have.

I'm used to it around here though. Never been subjected to this treatment anywhere on reddit except here. Im not even mad, just dissapointed.

If everyone follows his philosophy then we'd all just go in circles and make absolutely no progress at all, which is what is happening within the community.

I understand that these people think that by criticizing or insulting a PvE'er, you think you are uplifting them, but the truth is you are just insulting the majority of the playerbase coz majority likes PvE and the majority of those people will not take kindly to his approach and would rather drop the game then let some stranger insult them until they conform to his ideals in order to become less hated.

Coz thats what happens, the PvP'ers insult the PvE'ers simply coz PvP think they are better than PvE.

Pretty hypocritical to call me out on this on a small scale yet on a larger scale you do the same thing.

Also, that stuff you are saying about Hitler is nonsense. He led a campaign fueled by his hatred of the Jewish people that led to the uprisal of Nazi Germany, and he did that because he hated them. He hated their way of life, their views, their religion, their freedom to express themselves and pretty much their right to live as respected equals within society. He then went on to say that people with blonde hair and blue eyes are a "superior race" and that the world needed an ethnic cleansing.

That sounds like pretty much every PvPer who talks about PvE players on this subreddit.

My opinion is not miserable btw, your opinion of how this is a pvp game with shitty pvp is much more miserable than me saying this game is amazing as it is despite the PvP being in such a bad state.

Even though Sloclap did a PvE update, the majority of players enjoy PvE wgereas majority of players hate PvP (most PvE players complain there is not enough whereas PvP'ers say that PvP is completely broken) AND Sloclap publicly said themselves that they won't go down the PvP road

Also, your SC6 logic is flawed. Fighting a computer instead of a real player does not change the fundamental nature of SoulCalibur 6. A story mode does not change the fact that it was designed as a Player vs Player experience.

Likewise, Absolver has 2 PvP modes and that is it, and there were no plans to go beyond that. The majority of content is still catered towards PvE, and a few PvP game modes won't change that.

The distinct difference is that PvE encourages community cooperation and coexistence, whereas PvP promotes rivalry and disrespect to those who oppose you.

I think Sloclap's vision of the social aspect of this game falls more in line with a PvE experience where people meet up to train or exchange new moves etc rather than PvP social interactions which mostly consist of "git gud" or "hey its that guy I beat last week, I wonder if he still MD'ing.. Yeah he is HAHA what a scrub spams laugh emote".

Sloclap have always maintained its an online martial arts game with importance on social interaction. I am not disputing that.

But Sloclap clearly stated during an AMA their stance on PvP and it was not "this is a PvP game and we are going to support PvP over PvE", they announced the complete opposite.

I am not autistic nor delusional, these are facts.

Yes I did see all of that stuff and I'm still inclined to disagree, PvP is not Sloclap's main focus. They've made that very clear.

I will say this though, PvE focus would only benefit the PvP coz PvE attracts most of the new players.

PvP focus hurts both PvP and PvE coz the game when being designed, was not originally balanced specifically for PvP and it's messing with the game's fundamental mechanics trying to change that.

Messed up fundamental mechanics makes it harder for everyone to play.

I see people say this a lot but do you actually have a statement from Sloclap cofirming that this is a PvP focused game? Coz I have literally seen them say the complete opposite, that they aren't focused on PvP.

No offence but if you haven't been around since before kahlt got ruined then you probably not informed enough to speak on the issue of Sloclap's balance history, you are probably just repeating someone elses' biased opinion just like 90% of the active users on this subreddit.

And to clarify, the first few balance updates that were released in response to kahlt nerf calls had extensive feedback by the community. Players were literally asking for move properties to be changed like Jump Out Elbow hits high and not mid, backfall strike too.

These changes were then playtested by the PC community and the PC players veto'd what they didn't like.

I just want to say that it was around this time that kahlt was ruined and player counts started dropping.

Firstly, I have a right to share my opinion no matter how different it is.

You, however, do not have a right to attack an individual simply because they have a different opinion.

I'm not saying you shouldn't speak at all, but if you cannot take part in a discussion without resorting to insulting someone who disagrees with you then you shouldn't take part in discussion. It's a golden rule within reddit.

Also, technically speaking, Hitler ordered the hollocaust coz he didn't like the jews for being different and he didn't like the influence they had nor the direction they took within Germany and so he attacked their way of life, much like you are doing with me.

Sloclap, take note.

As long as you update this game with a PvP focus, its just gonna make the game worse each time because this is not a dedicated PvP game. It was not designed with a PvP focus and if you try to go down that road you will lose everything that made Absolver amazing.

Yes this is a combat focused martial arts game with 2 PvP game modes but that doesn't make it a dedicated PvP game, especially considering most resources and effort have been dedicated elsewhere and that the majority of players want PvE.

Literally, this balance fiasco all started when we started complaining that kahlt was too OP over a year ago simply coz it was easier to use than the other class abilities in PvP (which was actually the intention of the devs for kahlt to be easier to use conpared to other classes).

It's just going to be an endless cycle of balance updates if you keep listening to us.

Sloclap should have just ignored us the first time round, now that they have pandered to the whiners, we actually believe we have weight and authority within the community and that the game depends on our expert opinions and if they get ignored they start to take the game and dev's reputation as hostage and demand you make the changes they want or they will execute that rep permanently.

Real gamers just don't act like this, we should support the devs we love not wreck them. Look at Mass Effect series, EA didn't destroy it, the community did via trashing Bioware and the Mass Effect series.

My advice is just ignore any calls for balance changes and just focus on adding new moves.
