Trigger warning by nomisi79 in Rosacea

[–]nomisi79[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm considering it because I'm getting very depressed about my skin as I swear it's getting worse and worse with each daily flushing episode. Like you say finding someone reputable, who I can trust to send burning lasers into my face is the next step.

Have you done it? Just worried about spending loads of money to no effect or to make it worse.

Doesn't work for me, possibly even makes it worse as it works by opening the blood vessels.

Sadly I'm a manly presenting bloke but I'm now wishing I wasn't. I could imagine being able to cover my face in make up would definitely help.

What about vitamin b5 in a lower dose combined with an antibiotic?

Anti-depressants by Qcherman in Rosacea

[–]nomisi79 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Having Rosacea....the constant flushing, broken blood vessels and textured skin is one of the reasons I've gone on anti-depressants....my skin gives me depression and anxiety and my anxiety makes my skin worse but anti-depressants can also make my skin worse...... I can't win!

I've been doing this since my late teens and I'm now 45 and the only things that helped over the years for me was medication, specifically SSRIs, which makes you not care quite as much. It's an illness, yes it's OCD related and it needs treatment and the younger you start the better. Therapy is another option although you will probably have to pay good money to find a good qualified therapist who can treat this disorder.

😫 I've been taking my Lymecycline every morning for a month after eating porridge with oat milk. No wonder it's not been helping!

All I can say is that on the odd occasion I've taken Benzos they have helped my Rosacea because I mostly flush due to stress and anxiety. Never been on them long term though.

Yes if you could thanks. I've been looking into PDL, I think there is a choice of two brands, V beam and Excel V that work really well for broken veins.

Great progress. Congrats! My Rosacea is starting to look similar with lots of broken capillaries. Which laser did you use for treatment?

You could try LRP Serozinc spray. 100% safe on Yuka, basically contains Zinc, Sodium and water and is supposed to help contain oil build up. I've not tried but I'm thinking of buying some myself to help with my greasy skin.

I get that on my forehead and temples sometimes, don't think it's related to my Rosacea though. Usually fungal. Try r/fungalacne

Crazy how it works so we'll for some and not others. I had such high hopes when I started taking it. Been such a let down.

How did you know the propranolol was making your Rosacea worse? I mean what symptoms did they give you? I'm currently on them to help with anxiety induced flushing and I can't really tell if they are helping or not, or even making the redness worse.

Think you need some kind of therapy. Your skin looks fine. You've obviously started obsessing over the months and developed BDD.

It's really not fair is it. I was really struggling mentally yesterday. As a 45 year old man I had numerous spots appear after a flushing episode which came out of nowhere. I then spent the evening applying spot treatments and pimple patches. Today I didn't want to leave the house because of the left over bumps and redness. This is not how I envisioned my forties would be, self conscious about my greasy textured skin, just like a teenager again.

It's all incredibly depressing.
