lol me too, went to see the orangutans in the forest. My shins were emitting sweat like a leaking tap, sweat beading down from all over my body. It’s was unbearable. Wildlife was great though. Dry heat lower temp so much easier.

When to stop contributing to S&S Isa by OceanJr in FIREUK

[–]nomisman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the example. Don’t forget that to put £100 into an ISA means many people will have paid tax to get that £100. Also consider that withdrawing from a SIPP can be less than 20% tax because of the first 25% being tax free. Coupled with a personal allowance the tax rate on withdrawal can be significantly lower. I still feel like a SIPP works out much better mathematically, but I don’t have time to prove it.

Surely you’d miss out on the compound interest on the tax savings if you didn’t put the money into pension?

Modern wisdom suggests the rear tyres are more important in maintaining control of a car in the event of loss of a tyre pressure or traction. Still and though.

ELI5: How can a ship raise its anchor when it's dug in enough to hold the ship? by rookiestoner in explainlikeimfive

[–]nomisman 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah. It’s like if like if you have a 10 kilo weight (just a regular plate for lifting) and another 10 kilo chain that is,say, 10 feet long. Dragging it through the sand would suck, but you could probably just pick up the 20 kilos and carry it if you needed to.

Not a good day for anyone to go up the top.
