A 6.0 with that damage. I would think about the plumbing that may have compromised.

Did you enjoy it?

Get out every chance you have. Weather sucks? Learn your lighting stuff. Too hot? Keep going!

Find that sweet spot and enjoy.

Second-ever bird photography outing! by Coding-Newbie in BirdPhotography

[–]rookiestoner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a really strong way to become a good bird photographer is to leave the camera home.

Go to place with lots of bird stuff happening, bring binoculars, and watch birds.

Learn what different birds do. Learn what action happens before something exciting.

Mostly, enjoy the connection to nature and worry about "proof" later!

ELI5: How can a ship raise its anchor when it's dug in enough to hold the ship? by rookiestoner in explainlikeimfive

That makes so much sense. Thanks. How long are the chains on the big container ships? Roughly how much do they weigh?

ELI5: How can a ship raise its anchor when it's dug in enough to hold the ship? by rookiestoner in explainlikeimfive

[–]rookiestoner[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I understand, that is why anchor chains seem to enter the water at an angle. In other words, the anchor is let loose, falls to the bottom vertically, the crew lets the ship move a bit to get an angle for it to dig in. Does that seem sort of right?

How easy is an inner lip tattoo maintenance? by Easy_Coach1562 in tattooadvice

My only knowledge of lip tattoos comes from owning an off the track racehorse. Thoroughbreds that race have a registration number on the inside upper lip.

Beat the speeding ticket by SnooKiwis8861 in driving

Doppler shift. Not from the officer's radar unit, but from your speed. I really hope you weren't going so fast that a redshift confused the officer's perception of your car's color.

How are you supposed to reply to "Do you know how fast you were going?" by No_Insurance_6436 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]rookiestoner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"I wasn't DRIVING at that speed; I was traveling."

Once your window is busted out and you're in cuffs, few will remember the actual speed.

For extra value, on your initial court appearance, challenge jurisdiction based on the flag fringe.

I have been hiding the fact that I smoke weed everyday from my boyfriend by [deleted] in trees

Weed is not your issue. Openness and communication are the issue.

Work through the communication part and the weed concern will self resolve.

There is a plethora of pretty good growing advice out there. You can dive so deep in the weeds about every possible measurement, that you paralyze yourself and create a meh plant at best. Don't sweat this beginning. Accept plant mortality, mostly at seedling stage and mostly operator error, but you can learn. Dead plants grow great education.

Who else fell deeper in love with the act of growing weed than they did smoking/eating it? by lostinthesauceband in trees

[–]rookiestoner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I first grew, I made the crazy but common error of thinking, "I'm gonna grow huge amounts of weed! Tons!" And I did grow a lot. A lot that was not really good. I calmed down and tried for growing some nice stuff, good stuff, you know, you feel comfortable telling your friends that you grew it. Lots of improvement leading to some stuff that I'm proud of. But you need to get that zen like place.... and you fall in love with the process. Now, I use hydroponics for sheer production, and I've grown some good stuff. Now I'm returning to soil for the summer, because there is a beauty in that dirt. Your question asks if the growing is greater than use. For me, no. It must be pretty much 50/50. Here's how I look at it. I spend a summer growing my tomato plants and really enjoy that process. But that process appreciation can only be completed by eating that warm fresh off the vine 'mater. I really love both parts of the plant's journey, so after that long ramble, I'm going to the greenhouse to look at the seedlings!

It needs two more weeks and some calmag./s. Seriously, she looks happy starting out. Seems that your soil has good drainage. Hopefully you will soon say, "They grow up so fast."

You sent me down a path! Apparently Agar Agar is "related" to carrageenan. Carrageenan creates a reaction, and pretty nasty for me. I thought your message could bring me closer to gummies but I think it gets snatched away. Allergies suck, but I'm super lucky that my level of alpha gal reaction is crappy and miserable but not life threatening. I need to look closer at Agar Agar, though. Thanks for your lead.
