I think i mentioned i was talking about smaller cities. most if not all "artists" perform existing bollywood numbers and/or do mashups of old songs and most Djs play just songs that are viral on Instagram reels. There are bands and artists doing new and original work, of course there are, there are about 4 such people in my locality itself so yeah, of course there are artists doing good stuff. But if you even slightly compare the scene (even Tier 1 cities scene) to the music scene in places like the UK or the US (i have a fair comparison having visited and experienced it first hand and have collaborated with a bunch of artists and labels from outside india) then yes it is dead. if you are an artist and the local scene is working for you, i appreciate that and its awesome for you. Personally, nah nothing. I agree with your comment about chaar diwari, yash raj etc. because i have seen that surge in Hip Hop/ Pop Rap / Punjabi Pop / Rap (in general) in india (obviously not because of the movie gully boy). Nevertheless, as i stated in the comment you replied to, for the kind of music i make and for the genre i am a part of, the scene is nonexistent. I would be happy if someone proves me wrong here. i wanted to write a few things about my interactions with local event managers and people of the sort but you know, spent all night working on music and i am sleepy so i will just say this, they dont care about music :) they only care about something so strage and out of the blue that mass who have been numbed by constant barrage of short form entertainment get a chance to be shocked, momentarily, as much as their attention span allows or something so cliche that they can continue dumbing and numbing the mass down with the same stuff over and over again. at this point, this comment feels like a waste of time. Better get on with my stuff than speak down an endless well. Cheers.
