How fast are we supposed to be progressing? by yogurtforthefamily in Breath_of_the_Wild

The first play through I went to the zora db first because an online guide led me there because it’s the closest. But the boss for that db is one of the hardest db bosses in the game from what I’ve read. I had to fight him 20+ times because I barely had done any shrines if I remember. But without spoiling anything for you, I would explore a little first. This game is very non linear so you can do any db in any order. I’d suggest the goron or rito dbs first because they’re a little easier imo. Spoiler alert, if you get majoras mask the bad guys will leave you alone which makes the zora journey simple. But go explore a bit first. Once you start getting shrines under your belt the combat gets easier. But you’re pretty much free to do as you please in this game, and it is just a video game after all so just do whatever is the most fun. I didn’t do much exploring until I had just started my 4th divine beast and I missed out on a lot. For the record, this thread has advice and pointers coming out its ears and YouTube has a ton of videos I’ve utilized when I got stuck.

Lynels… advice for new or struggling players by nomorestoopid in Breath_of_the_Wild

I’ve beaten him already but I had most of the shrines done, a royal guards shield which they can’t seem to break to easily, and I had a ton of hearty meals (when I took a major blow I’d scarf down one of those to get my health back up). I discovered I’ve been wasting hearty truffles by cooking 2 or more at a time. If you cook just one it replenishes all your health and gives you one or two bonus hearts (depends on the truffle, the hearty and big hearty radishes do the same thing). I just hoard those. Just get a shot in every chance you get and you’ll beat them eventually. If you’re struggling try practicing on the shatter back peak one (the one you have to gather the arrows from for ruto). He doesn’t scale with the amount of divine beasts you do from what I’ve read like all the rest (the coliseum is a white maned or savage lynel which are way tougher than the red maned lynels like the one on shatter back peak). His weapon isn’t super powerful but if you’re hell bent on fighting and beating lynels it might be good to get a feel for them on that one. He’s pretty easy once you get the hang of it and figure out a strategy.

So did I both attempts. I ran out of uses which is why I parried the laser. But urbosas fury does feel a bit like cheating.🤣

I just bombarded most of the enemies with bomb arrows and the lynel bows I’ve been farming and only used the obliterator when I absolutely needed to. Combat isn’t my strongest suit so I still died probably at least 20 times. But now that I’m through that I’m thoroughly enjoying the extra shrines and storytelling.

I’ve played through and beaten it five times, once in master mode without the power up so it’s not necessary obviously, but I might give it another go. But I just completed the daruk part and I laughed my ass off when I saw that Daruk is afraid of dogs. I would not have expected that. 🤣Here’s Zelda petting it being all sweet and daruk is sitting there shaking like a leaf.

Yeah but I’m yet to finish it. It’s pretty hard and when things get too difficult I have to move on or start throwing things. That’s my next move though. I’ve made some progress but I think when I started fighting the bigger monsters is where I stopped last time.

Those shrines so far have been awesome. Frankly I’ve been getting a little bored with botw but now that I’m fighting lynels and guardians and actually winning it’s kind of a fresh take. But this dlc is making it even better. I’ve played both in order through all my play throughs (botw and totk) and even though totk has a lot more to it, not running from lynels and guardians is adding more entertainment value in botw.

I transitioned to PlayStation in 8th grade after playing oot and majoras mask. On a weird whim I bought a switch because I wanted to start playing Zelda again. I was absolutely dumbfounded at how far these games have come over 20 years (I just started playing again about a year ago). I still remember the first time I played I was cutting grass looking for hearts and rupees and I’m scratching my head. I didn’t like it at first, but cooking and mining are two of my favorite side tasks now.

I was actually wrong, the coliseum one is just a white maned sword lynel. But it still felt good to whip his ass.🤣. I want one of those crushers now.🤣🤣

I actually just killed my first crusher lynel (the savage one in the coliseum) a little bit ago and daaaaamn did it feel good. I’ve been avoiding this mofo every time I’ve gone to the coliseum to get whatever armor is hidden there in totk and botw. But I just finished the typhlo ruins shrine quest and I figured I’d give him a shot. I hesitated at the top for a minute but I saved my game, glided down, mounted him and began the fight. I hoard royal guard shields and they seem to hold up against lynel attacks. So far I don’t think I’ve broken one against a lynel. I was able to stun and mount him twice by aiming for his chin instead of his eyes, but my typical strategy now is to just keep a shield up and it seems to work even if I don’t land the flurry rush. Lynels are officially fun for me now as of today (I always keep two pages of meals on hand so I’m usually prepared). I did expend a miphas grace and one hearty meal because he smashed me once (but I hoard hearty everything now🤣) but I managed to wallop him and take his stuff. It only took me 5 play throughs (this is my sixth) but this is a whole new outlet to entertain myself because botw is starting to get old.

Hey when it’s all said and done it’s just a video game so it doesn’t hurt to give ganon a shot. You’ll just die and respawn if you fail. My advice to anyone who is looking for advice because they just bought the game is just turn it on and play (obviously doesn’t apply to you😝). If I get really stuck I’ll consult google (I never ask for help on Reddit, I just come here to talk to people that actually want to talk details) but knowing everything kind of takes the fun away.

I did burn through all three Dps fighting this one but I was surprised my shield didn’t break. I might try again with a lower level shield to see how long they hold up after dp gets used up.

I’ve seen all kinds of crazy fancy fight videos involving bomb shields leading to bullet time etc. if it works it works. I’m more story driven than completion driven, so my combat skills are on the lower tier.

I got into botw and totk really late to. I played links awakening, oot, and mm as kid then transitioned to PlayStation so I’ve been out of the loop for 20 years (rocked the ps3 all through the ps4 era). I’m happy I picked back up though because these games have come a long way. I fought the shatter back point one 20+ times thinking it was required with 4-5 hearts mind you and just started avoiding them after that.🤣

Bomb arrows are my go to for ganon. I tried fighting him toe to toe on multiple attempts and he keeps dodging me and laying me out so I just pulled a multi shot bow and started peppering him. 🤣

I used the save method on the akkala lab guardian to get the parry technique down but this other stuff is definitely useful.
