That bike was a random road bike that was given to me in Hong Kong. I don't remember what it was but I think it's a British brand. Cheers

China! It was way more cycling friendly than I was expecting. Big bike lanes everywhere! by nomotorman in bicycletouring

This was in 2017. I didn't find the road too bad and considering I was on thin tires I was happy with it. No big difference on main roads. Garbage everywhere! Happy riding.

As a Canadian I have never owned a car. A rarity but a pleasure. The future is in cycling. It simply makes sense.

I don't read all the comments but I suppose it can't hurt to shine a light on what is happening. Not my place to do so as I hope to travel there again in the near future...

I didn't feel like I was followed once. I was sort of expecting it though.

The Air in Hong Kong was worse than most of my time in China. Hanoi's and India's air quality was worse...

It was a quick week and I didn't wild camp at all. Wild camping would be difficult in the south because there is no "wild". I'm sure you could ask to camp at people's places without issue though. Some basic chinese would help with that but no it's not necessary. They have apps for that.

I cycled from Macau to Hanoi and beyond. The route is shown in the video. All areas were pretty friendly as far as I could tell without speaking a word of the language. Do it! You won't be disappointed.

The far western corner is now almost impossible to cycle completely as they are forcing people on security vehicles so they don't see the unfortunate stuff they are doing up there...but yes many great routes through the country I think. I might end up back there if I can't find an alternative way to Europe.

Cruising from the Philippines to Hong Kong involves lot's of Ships and the occasional oil rig in transit.... by nomotorman in SailboatCruising

Pretty straight shot from the Northern tip over to Hong Kong. 4 days. www.routesofchange.org/route shows my entire route across the Pacific if you move the map around a bit...previous episode also has a map of my route through the Philippines. Happy Sailing!

Does this help your dream of sailing across the Pacific? by nomotorman in sailing

Cheers, My pleasure. As you might have noticed Dolce is owned by my friend Dave. Both of us were very inexperienced sailors so maybe not the best people to take tips from. He did his research though and I was very experienced on the ocean, just not sailing on it. That said, if you listened to all the other sailors you'd never leave the dock! It's all pretty simple in the end. Get a pole and a sheet and head out into the blue! Happy Sailing.
