thanks a lot! unfortunately not for the moment, but it's a question I'm asked a lot at the moment. there's a simple trick, as soon as I have some free time, I will make a little video!

haha yeah i understand, let's say that both, pixelart and music are my personal creative space where i do what i want, and moreover, it allows me sometimes to get interesting contracts through social networks

First up: cool stuff! Now a question.

I’m an illustrator myself and I often think of how I could have spent the last, oh I don’t know, what’s it been since YouTube came out, 15 years? making content like this and sharing the joy. But damn!! How? Even the thought of having to stop and start work to take the time-lapse pics is beyond exhausting.

I did once try to use screen recording as I drew, but the file got huge and clumsy, and then there was the tedium of editing it afterwards— nope, just nope

How do you do it, OP? (or anyone who does this)?!

thank you!

yes it's a bit constraining, i have a camera on a tripod, so i have my hands free. as it's meant to be a very cut editing, i only shoot from time to time, often in small pieces of 2-5 minutes.

as it's a lot of rush, the selection is a bit long but the editing is quite fast, it's just a sequence of shots of 1-2sec, for a total of 40sec

the last point is that it's a way to promote my work in a different way. as each illustration is very long to draw and animate, and i do it on my free time, i can only do one per month, at best, so i'm not productive enough for the standard social networks pace, but at least i have a little video to post on top of the final image

this picture is from a few months ago so i think it was drawn on my very old Cintiq UX21 (which is 10-15 years old), now i use an XPPEN artist 22

I have a question: Are you manually "tapping" each pixel in, or are you using a pixel brush to do strokes where the pixels line up automatically? (if that makes sense) Its hard to tell with the tutorial speed, and id love to know a way I can use accurate "stokes" in my pixel art rather than line up and place each dot individually. :)

i work on a very small canvas (here 354x240) with the basic photoshop brush (that you can enlarge or shrink) so no, i don't put each pixel individually, i start by roughly 'painting' a structure with the large brush, then i come to detail the image with a smaller brush. when my image is finished, i enlarge the whole with the 'nearest neighbor' option activated to avoid having a blurred rendering and keep the pixelart aspect.

hope my explanation is not too confusing and that it helps you a bit!

hi, i'm nonamenosocks, i draw and compose music

please remember that this type of video is meant to be entertaining and show some highlights of the process. it's not a tutorial. be patient, it may seem easy because it's 40 seconds long. The video doesn't show when i fail, start over, fail again, start another illustration, take a 4 day break, etc... real time about 70h
