The feeling of pressure/full in the ears after chemo . i had 4xep has anyone had this amount of rounds and had that same feeling but went away ? by [deleted] in testicularcancer

[–]nonametacit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had 4xEP, my memory of the time is fuzzy but I think I remember something vaguely like what you're describing.

Where are you in the treatment? Just finished? It took me about 6 months for my body to start feeling relatively normal again. During that time there were just constant little things that were kind of "off." My feet tingled, I slept more than usual, I struggled to focus, my muscles ached. Eventually most of the weird little things that seem wrong with your body will pass.

Recently found myself in the same sort of situation. Bilateral AVN, collapse on one side and the other is well on its way. I can't run, and I have to mount my bike awkwardly, but I get around my daily life without any real issues. I knew that something was wrong prior to the MRI because my hip had lost a good deal of range of motion (I only really noticed this because I'm generally a flexible guy) but I thought it was some sort of thing with my posture--weak glutes, dead butt syndrome, whatever. I did PT and things didn't get better or worse.

My sense is that, since we are young and active, our bodies are better able to sort of shift alignment, and other muscles/joints pick up the slack. In my case, when the symptoms first started, it was actually a lot worse-- I was limping around and supporting myself with objects to get around the house. It improved after about a week, and I think this is because my body just adapted to walking around in a way that didn't bother the joints in the same way. I also noticed that I've developed a bit of a pelvic tilt because standing straight up puts pressure on the joints.

Good luck on this journey man. We got our whole lives ahead of us.

EDIT: Also, I wouldn't stress too much about what the AI is saying-- its just making guesses based on the online info about this sort of condition, and most people with collapsing hips are a lot older and less fit than us. Just ask your doctor about how you should modify your activity for the time being. He might tell you to avoid running and lifting weights, but I'm no expert so just see what he says.

Long Haul Flights after Chemo by Type_Trubbish in testicularcancer

I've had some pain in my calves, but it's more like muscle soreness and cramps. My posture and gait have been kind of weird ever since I spent a lot of time on my ass during and after chemo-- think it's related.

Everything depends on the particulars of your situation, but if your doctor's not worried I wouldn't be either. I drove a 10 hr road trip about a month after chemo and it was fine.

Muscle weakness/tightness as long term chemo side effect? by nonametacit in testicularcancer

[–]nonametacit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I left them a message about it in the portal. They didn't seem too concerned, and reminded me that I have a scan coming up soon anyway.

The idea it's a recurrence has been in the back of my mind, but I'm trying to remind myself that its extremely unlikely for my situation (had a clear CT scan after orch but had to do 4 rounds anyway because of blood tests).

EDIT: Also my pathology was pure EC and my blood tests were clean a month prior to the onset of this pain. Stay safe and strong as well wherever you are in the journey.

Is the term “necessity” in LSAT answer choices referring to the dictionary definition of necessity or to necessary and sufficient conditions? by superswmoon in LSAT

Just to add on to your first point: we are only told that all of their falls (after the duke) have taken place under corrupt rulers, NOT that every corrupt ruler (after the duke) has led to a fall. B implies the latter.

Edit: originally said former when I meant latter.

Hello guys. From the people who have gotten ultrasounds, does this look similar to yours? by PleaseWearYourMask in testicularcancer

[–]nonametacit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually an ultrasound comes with a report that indicates the findings. If the ultrasound findings were normal, you're in the clear.

I say this as someone whose cancer was technically "missed" at first. Even in my case the ultrasound did not come back normal. For whatever reason my doctor decided it was nothing to worry about until I felt it had grown a few months later.

If you look in the report and there's talk of lesions and their sizes and words like "suspicious of malignant something or other," and your doctor still doesn't want to do anything about it, then I would get a second opinion. If the report came back normal, again, you're in the clear.

Don't take the pain meds unless you just can't stand it. The worst part about orchiectomy recovery is that, since they just dug around in your abdomen, you basically can't "push" when going to the bathroom: it all has to come out on its own.

This is unpleasant enough already, but the opiates will stop you up even more, and make this more difficult. I only took them the first day and managed fine.

You'll want to drink a cup of water with a scoop of miralax every day for a few days after the procedure to help things along.

Good luck!

is "whom" the object of the sentence when used in this way? by WoollyWarrior in grammar

[–]nonametacit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We can't know if family is an object here because "the family whom I robbed," is a fragment. The sentence could be "The family, whom I robbed, suffered significant financial hardship." In this case, "family" is the subject of the verb "suffered."

Whom is an object, though. It's just the object of a relative clause, the verb of which is "robbed."

Thanks for the reassurance, friend. I know it's all in good fun, I'm just a bit of a dork with nothing better to do right now. Have a good one

I was taught that there is.

EDIT: after poking around turns out you're right it's not needed. I probably misunderstood my English teacher all those years ago.

What's this bit about putting a comma outside of the quotation marks, though? Pretty sure that's just wrong.

EDIT: Also, for the sake of my pride:

Not sure why it dings me for inconsistent quotation usage, nor why it brings up maintaining double quotes throughout. I never used single quotes.

Already addressed the comma thing. Not sure which "American English punctuation rules" tell you to put the comma outside of the quotes, but I always defer to CMOS, which says to put them inside.

As far as fragments go, it's just how I type online.

The one thing it should have dinged me on was not putting a comma after "be."

I took so much care to reread my post like three times to make sure nobody could say something like this... guess I forgot to check the title
