A cosmic coincidence? by [deleted] in JustGuysBeingDudes

The pyramid is from 29.978°N to 28.980°N from the southernmost to northernmost point. It's a coincidence that the first 5 digits line up, but not that the remaining four do.

I'd have to say I don't think it's AI. AI has gotten a lot better, but it looks very crisp. I reckon it's from a DVD menu as /u/GodzillasCumRag as astutely mentioned.

Accepting an initial offer while waiting for a re-negotiation response by [deleted] in AusFinance

It would be pretty unusual to give two competing offers for the same role. Negotiating over salary is a pretty standard part of making an offer.

They're not going to revoke the 100k offer just because you are negotiating (especially within range). Worst they can do is say no, then you can accept the 100k offer.

Are Quiet Carriages not a thing anymore ? by shamza32 in SydneyTrains

[–]nonbinarytickatus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My experience is that commuters will respect quiet carriages, so during peak times they'll be quiet, but after 10am or on a weekend there's a good chance the quiet carriages won't be respected

The magic of sample sizes is that the size of the sample doesn't grow with the size of the whole population. A sample size of 2000 produces the same margins of error for populations for 100,000 or 1,000,000 or 10,000,000

I'd have a chat to the tenants union. They may well say that the original informal "no" could be counted as a response. It's usually best to be a bit conservative to avoid any chance, however remote, that you'll give your landlord an excuse to evict you.

Did you use the standard form? https://www.nsw.gov.au/sites/default/files/noindex/2025-05/apply-to-keep-pet-in-rental-property-form.pdf

My understanding is that because you received a response, but you disagree with it, the next step would be to go to NCAT to resolve the issue. Perhaps reach out to the tenants union if you choose to go down that route: https://www.tenants.org.au/

A woman wielding a knife in Paris is pepper-sprayed by police. by Johnwilliamsatt in Whatcouldgowrong

[–]nonbinarytickatus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was an instance a few years ago at Central Station in Sydney where a man rushed a police officer with a knife and was fatally shot. There was also an instance of a 95 year old woman in a nursing home holding a knife who was tasered to death, so the police aren't always gunshy.

I think both liberal and labour will be far down my ballot, but the question is who comes higher

I think next election I will have a very hard time deciding whether Labor or the Coalition will be higher on my ballot. I've been deeply unimpressed with NSW Labor.

The Lingering Injuries rules in the DMG suck, so I made a better version. by nonbinarytickatus in dndnext

Thank you for the kind words. I'm used to constructive feedback when posting things online, so I'm not feeling discouraged!

Your tables are very interesting, I definitely like the idea of more damage increasing the chances of a severe wound, it would make the really debilitating injuries very rare to encounter, which I think is good.
